Which Concierge and Why:AKL or YC

We are currently booked at AKL Concierge for two nights before moving to BWV for five nights. My main reason for staying at AKL was for the Sunrise Safari (for my husband and son). However, after reading the descriptions, DH said he thinks he would like the Wildlife Discovery Excursion more than Sunrise Safari (he doesn't care about the breakfast and likes the idea of the smaller vehicle).

We are true fans of the Epcot resort area (BWV is our home resort) and after reading all the posts about AKL being dark, etc.,. I am worried about spending so much money for a place I may not like when I can stay some place I know I love for the same price (YC concierge at AP rate is same as AKL concierge at AP rate).

What would you do?

I've stayed at both and AKL wins hands down. The service was better, the food was better and the staff was more helpful.

I've done both. They would both be great. I like AKL because it has better food and a cappicinno(sp) machine. There is something about the sun coming in the big window in the morning and a good cup of coffee that I just love. I am a morning person. Also we have done the sun rise safarri and it is really cool. The food at the breakfast (at the SRS) is wonderful. I don't think that it is dark at the resort.I think that it is deliberate. It seems to have a glow. (Maybe an African sunset.) It is more of an experience than a resort. Your son (and you) will like the animals too. We watched a giraffe lay down. That was a first. We love it!

The best thing I can say about our experience at the YC concierge is the pre-planning staff. They were excellent. As for the lounge, it was very small and had limited seating. For some unknown reason, they also closed up the lounge in between every food serving. You could get a cold drink, but you had to ask a staff member to go in and get it for you. We had a garden view booked and ended up with a room overlooking the parking lot and convention roof. I'd say you'd have to book a more expensive water view room if you plan on looking at something nice.

I'd definitely recommend staying at the AKL.

If BWV is your home resort, why not do BWICL...it is fantastic!

We would love to do BWICL, but it is not currently available for our dates.

While we would love to try AKL, I think we may be leaning toward YC (or BWI, if it becomes available) since we will be spending Saturday (and possibly Sunday) at MGM for Star Wars Weekend. DH can still do the Wildlife Discovery Excursion, while I take the kids wherever they want to go.

We got a roof view at YC too, but complained and got a room on another floor. We ended up w/concierge access.(very far away). It still was nice but very inconvenient.

We enjoy both. Since you are ending your trip at BWV, I would go AKL.

YC was "OK". Nothing more, and it is far from my short list of favorite WDW CL's.

AKL is a WOW! The service and extra amenities, the welcoming lounge with it's comfortable seating, hands down.

I wouldn't even have given it a thought, AKL all the way!
