Does anyone know of a rental company which has the extended Minivans for rent? I have a child in a wheelchair and we need to rent something that will fit all our stuff, her chair, a stroller and 4 adults, 1 child and a baby in a car seat!
Any advice will be helpful!!!

I have seen only extended minivans at National. I think Budget and Avis rent only extended as well. I do know that the last time we used Dollar they switched to regular length models and charged me to upgrade to an extended length. When in doubt call the rental location at the airport and ask them what types of minivans that they have in their rental pool.

I don't know when the last time you used Dollar was, but we just used Dollar in December, and had a wonderfully clean Dodge Grand Caravan that did not cost us anything extra.

I am assuming this is the type of van the OP is talking about.

I think it will be 2 years now this summer that this happend. I would still use them, but I have found better deals with National the last couple of times we went. Dollar may have switched back since this happened to me. When this did happen, I even corresponded with Dollar's corporate office because the website said Dodge Grand Caravan or similar and the agent would only rent me a Caravan at the price I had confirmed. Dollar refunded the cost of my upgrade and told me that they would be changing the website and that they had in fact switched in some locations to Caravans as standard equipment but it was up to the individual renting location. Your best bet would be to call the renting location.

I believe Budget offers Ford E350 12 passenger as well as the Ford Windstar GL (or similar)-would you consider this larger than a minivan?

We also have a wheelchair bound child (DS, who is 6), and found that the Chevy Venture that Alamo rented us just fine for the four of us. We put down the back seat and rolled the chair straight forward, rather than side facing as we do in our Grand Caravan (T&C actually) at home. If you are more than 5 ppl (looks like you are 6:( ), I am not sure it would work, but we would have had room for one more skinny adult or normal size kid in the back. I don't believe the back seat split at all, which would have been handy.

If you are staying on-site, I am in favour of avoiding rental cars altogether, where possible. Mears actually cam e and got us in a wheelchair van for regular Mears prices; but, we had a private driver, which was cool. There I think you still might have too many ppl for the seats available. Hmm, I'll have to think about this some more. I'll post again when I have more ideas, since those that apply to you, likely apply to us as well.

Our rental was fairly recent (one month ago) so feel free to ask me plenty more questions about how kid wheelchairs (ours is a deep purple Zippie) mix with rental cars, DVC rooms etc.::yes::
