Which coaster would you choose?

Nope, they don't duel. Blame stupid people for that.

When did that change? With the change in name?

What a dumb thing to do as that is the whole purpose of that ride with the two coasters heading right for each other. Still a great ride, but its disappointing to hear this.

They changed it when some people started throwing things from one train at the other and a few people were seriously injured. They did it for everyone's protection.

Do they not have them in sync at all anymore? The person I asked said it was faster to not have them in sync - it wasn't that busy so it seemed stupid not to.

That's disappointing if they stopped doing that altogether now as that was a very cool part of the ride.

They no longer duel - a man was injured - lost an eyeball, I think - when something flew off a rider on the other coaster... Sun glasses? Anyway - they no longer duel.

I would take Hulk over the Dragons, for a ride chicken anyway.
:goodvibes

I heard that it was coins (or something similar) that came from a rider on the other coaster and that it is assumed they were thrown.

Universal Orlando's twin dragon coasters will never 'duel' again
October 19, 2011

Universal Orlando said this week it has decided to permanently end the practice of launching the two coasters simultaneously. The resort now bills the attraction as a "high-speed chase between two coasters."

"That decision follows an internal investigation into two summer accidents in which riders were apparently struck by loose objects while aboard the attraction. One was gruesome: A 52-year-old Puerto Rico man suffered a lacerated right eye and ultimately had to have the eyeball removed, according to his lawyer...

Precisely what happened in the two incidents remains a mystery. Universal will not discuss the findings of its review, though the resort's statements in the aftermath of the two incidents — in which it reminded guests of its long-standing policy to secure all loose items before boarding the coasters — suggest that they may have been caused by items falling out of guests' hands or pockets as the coasters raced along their tracks."

So, yeah, not exactly clear...

So we just went to youtube and viewed front row video from RRR, DD, and the Hulk. I don't know if we can do it!! When RRR dropped we were screaming..... watching on the laptop!!!

Holy Cow....

IMO Rip Rocket is an intense ride. My vote is Dragons! You can do it! Once you ride Dragons and build your confidence, head over to Hulk! It's a great coaster!!! :cheer2:

IMO hulk. hulk is a very smooth ride, and i think the fact that you sit above the track and there is a floor to the car means it's probably better for "ride chickens" than Dragon Challenge.

trust me, the hulk is a blast! and when you get off you'll be glad you went on it!

good luck! and have fun :D

Going on my first Upsidedown roller coasters this trip, my first will probably be Dragon Challenge because of where we'll be!! Good luck!!

So here is an update....

My daughter rode the Mummy for the first time. :thumbsup2 It was my second time. It was more intense than I remembered it :faint: but we both had fun. Only wanted to ride it once however. ;)

We were in the line for Mission Space Green then they announced that it was shut down for a while so we flipped to Orange! We had to read a manual prior to riding that contained all the warnings that were on the Orange card. We almost chickened out because of all the repeated warnings but went on anyway. We both liked it but felt kinda strange after. I went again with my son..... :)

We decided to ride the Dueling Dragons.... my daughter chickened out when we got to coaster so I went on myself with my husband and son. I was terrified but ended up having a great time! I convinced my daughter to go on with me as soon as I got off. I told her if I was willing to go again it wasn't that bad. :rotfl: She did and she loved it! Scared the pants off us but we loved it! Rode it 2 more times after that.... not in a row mind you :goodvibes

So next trip it will be between The Hulk and RRR..... shudder :faint:

Thanks for the input everyone!:lovestruc
