Hi,

I am bringing my kids to DL in Feb as a surprise for their birthday. They will be turning 8.

I have perused the website a little and want them to be picked in the Jedi training academy. I understand that WOC is also not be missed. I looked in the entertainment calendar and see that alas Aladdin is not scheduled in mid Feb.

Coming to the main question.

1. Should I take them to chip and dale breakfast on their birthday
OR
2. Take them to dinner to Ariel's Grotto and get the priority seating for WOC?

Is there any other character meal that's not to be missed for the 8y crowd that's worth the expenditure. My kids are big Pheneas and Ferb fans. I think they have outgrown the princess age already. I may have waited too long to bring them to DL.

Thanks for any pointers to a newbie. I'm/will be asking many questions. After we come back, I will write up about my experience.

We really like the food at Goofys but love the character interaction at Minnies. So we usually go to both one on our first day and the other on our last. If it is chip and dale that they are wanting to meet I have always seen them at both the meals I have stated above. is there any other characters that your kids would want to see or meet?

Well, I would do them all except the Princess one in DCA. Didn't care for the food.

They are all great for character interaction, far better then WDW imo.

My 8yo loved everyone of them. In order of our preference

Goofy kitchen - b'fast or dinner
PCH Grill - b'fast
Plaza Inn - Minnies B'fast
Story Teller Cafe - b'fast

I like the food at AG. We like to go for lunch tho because we like to see the Princesses. :) Also we like to eat a bigger meal mid-day.

I'd suggest M&F, we saw Chip & Dale there and they were great, they repeatedly came to our table to play and they were just too cute. They kept stealing DBF's hat and trying to wear it....they were hilarious. Besides, you can get just get a FP for WoC.

We love all the character meals--actually Goofy's was our least favorite.

Just thought I'd warn you, you can't get WOC passes at Ariel's when the princesses are there. But we love the food at Ariel's enough, that we've done a character lunch there one day, and an early non-character WOC dinner there another day.

After reading several reviews on here I booked Minnie and Friends breakfast at the Plaza Inn. Sounds like they'll have the best characters for us (a 7yr old boy, no princesses needed haha) and it sounds like there is a good variety of characters as well!

Thank you for your responses. I'm not sure which characters they will like. They watch Arthur, berenstein bears, phineas and furb (and pokeman wars recently) on youtube and have seen a few disney/pixar movies and a couple of the classic disney movies. The crowds will probably be overwhelming for my kids (and the grandparents). We are planning to get the four day park hopper tickets. So hopefully it will not be a mad rush to catch the interesting shows/rides.

Editing to add that they have read all the princess stories and do know what Mickey and Minnie look like as they have them as stuffies. And sometimes they watch the bugs bunny cartoons on youtube. I had just picked chip and dale because I read somewhere that they interact a lot with the kids.

They should be able to see P&F in DCA, they currently have a little parade/song/dance thing they do. Chip and Dale interact a lot with everyone, I'd go with M&F's at the Plaza Inn or Surfs Up! at the PPH, you can find Mickey there. :)

Of course they won't see Arthur, Berenstein Bears, Pokeman or Bugs Bunny at DL or DCA but there will be plenty of other characters for them to see. Make sure you use FP, that will be very valuable for you all.

Have fun!

My family had a blast at brunch at Goofy's. We met Goofy, Chip, Dale, Pluto, Mulan, Princess Aurora, and Baloo. The interaction with each was wonderful, in fact Baloo decided he really liked my sister-in-law, and spent several minutes flirting and dancing with her!

The kids were 7, 11, and 14 and each enjoyed the interaction in their own ways.

We also went to Mickey's Surfs Up, and met Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Pluto and Stitch, and again, the interaction was wonderful! Each character came around at least twice, and got our kids up to dance and get surf lessons! Even the teenager!

I think your kiddo's will have fun with whatever you decide! :goodvibes
