Ok....I am really debating over cancelling some of the character meals that I have booked....If I am going to do this, which ones are definate must do's and which one's do I cancel..... :confused3

Breakfast @ Hollywood & Vine
Breakfast @ CRT
Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fair
Breakfast @ Chef Mickey's
Dinner @ Garden Grill
Dinner @ Crystal Palace

I would probably cancel Breakfast @ Hollywood & Vine- I heard the selection isnt the best and its more pricey then the others, and Breakfast @ CRT I think it's somewhat overrated and also pricey for what you get. I think Ohana would be a good substitue and 1900 park fare and CM are great choices.

I would keep the dinner at Crystal Palace and breakfast at Chef Mickey's.

We had lunch at CP and it was our favorite meal during our stay, and we're not big Pooh fans. The buffet is bountiful and full of lots of choices, an excellent selection.

I wish we would have been able to enjoy CM more than we did at breakfast. The meal and restaurant were not at fault, other than the fact that the characters were bouncing from one side of the dining room to the other, rather our traveling companion got on DH nerves and I don't think we were quite so hungry to warrant a buffet at that time.

I would also like to try 1900 Park Fair.

For a 3 yo boy I'd keep CP and CM. Of course you know his interests the best, but it seems like these are most on target for his age. H&V also if he is into Little Einstein/Jo Jo. CRT is pricey and I haven't heard raves. Unless you think he'll love the castle an princesses, I'd save the money. I have heard great things about Park Faire, but unless he is into Mary Poppins you could probably drop that too.

I don't know how many days you are going so I don't know if you have too many booked. Personally, I find character meals a bit stressful (I have DDs 2 & 5). FIrst of all, buffets mean a lot of jumping up and down to coordinate everyone's plates. I also feel a little distracted, watching for the characters, getting autograph books ready, making sure the kids are not at the buffet when they come around. I think they are a lot of fun and worth doing some, but I can't handle too many. THis time we are doing CM for breakfast and PF for dinner over 8 days as our only character meals. But other people prefer buffets if they have picky (or diverse) eaters in their party or if their kids can't handle a long sit-down meal.

You go to character meals for the characters - ask your 3 year old which characters he wants to see the most. Choose those restaurants. You have a wide range of characters chosen (everything from Mary Poppins, to Cindy, to Pooh) so narrow it down by character.

Who cares if the food is good if you don't care about the characters? =) Enjoy your 1st trip with your son!!

Garden Grill is our favorite cm at WDW. The food is awesome, the restaurant is very quiet and each booth is very private, and the character interaction the best. IMHO it is much better that CP. My three children all agree.

I agree! It was VERY nice when we went in 2004! I would go again in a heartbeat! :thumbsup2

I agree with another poster, go with the places that have the characters you want to see! I happen to think CRT is a lousy deal now, if you really want to have breakfast with the princesses, then I would suggest the Norway Princess Breakfast at Epcot as a cheaper subsititue for princess lovers. I can tell you we love Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, and think 1900 Park Fare is the best breakfast around for character interraction, food and atmosphere.

if your son likes playhouse disney (jojo's circuse and little einstines) i would do hollywood and vine in a heart beat- the breakfast is a buffet (meaning the same price as crystal palace), i would skip 1500 park fare, keep crystal palace (have it as a late lunch and snack the whole day- good for the day at mk) and maybe keep chef mickey's if you're still looking for another character meal (or maybe look into liberty tree tavern, the food is wonderful and it's not a buffet to change it up a bit)- but maybe branch out a little from the character meals to keep the variety

I would keep Cape May/Park Faire and Crystal Palace, have heard mixed reviews about H&V. Cannot comment on the others.
