Which character meals are good for 2 adults with no kids!?!

Hi Everyone. I was wondering what character meals are considered more adult oriented or is there no such thing?

I know they're mainly for families with kids but I wanted to take my GF, since she loves all Disney characters, plus this is her first trip. I was mainly worried about the noise level, I heard that these places are very loud. Do you guys think we'll look silly being the only adults there with no children?

I kind of had my eye on The Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys and 'Ohanas. As long as I'm not expected to sing or join a conga line I think I can handle it.

If any of you kind folks know what I may be getting myself into or know of an "adult" character meal, please let me know. Thanks very much.

My best friend and I went to Crystal Palace for breakfast on our '06 trip. We were both 21. No one looked at us like we were out of place and we never felt awkward.We had the earliest time reserved which was cool for a couple reasons. One, you get to walk down Main Street before the park is open. So a great time for castle photos. Two, the noise level in the restaurant was very low. All the Pooh characters were great and so was the food. I wouldn't worry about going without kids. We saw lots of "adults only" groups there.

Ohana friends at the Polynesian.....we saw three couples with no kids have the time of their lives And the food was family style where they bring it to the table.

My DH and I have been to Disney 4 times without kids (we don't have any) and are going back in December!! Chef Mickey's is a must do!!! We love it there! I have never felt uncomfortable. The characters come to us just like they do anyone else. We pose for pictures with them and continue with our meal. We have also ate at Crystal Palace and did not feel uncomfortable there either. We are just big kids at heart and we love disney and always feel great anywhere we go on Disney property!!

I would go to Ohana's for dinner....while not a "true" character meal....
it is a lot of fun.....and the view out of the lg windows....priceless....

For a "true" character meal....I would pick Chef Mickey's.

I went in the fall with my parents (I'm 24) and we did breakfast at both Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table

That said, we had an absolute BLAST. Both meals had a lot of other adult only tables (Crystal Palace was almost 50% adult only tables) Crystal Palace had a children's parade that no one was forced to join (you could wave napkins in the air from the comfort of your seat if you chose to do so, but that wasn't required either) At CRT, there is a wishing ceremony that is just for the kids.

At both meals, the characters spent just as much quality time with us as they did at the tables with kids and the waiters often would offer to take pictures for you so that all of the members of your party could be in with the character if they wanted.

Don't hesitate to do it for a second - you'll really be missing out and the character interaction is so much better than the regular meet and greets. The hard decision will be selecting WHICH character meal(s) to book!

My first trip with my now wife was in 2003, just the two of us. And we went to Crystal Palace with no issues at all. You'd think the characters would bypass an adult couple, but they take the time with each table...no matter who is there.

You can really attend ANY character meal and be fine. Nobody will look at you twice if you don't have kids. You can even take pics and get autographs. I've seen plenty of adult only tables EVERY time I've gone to one.

There really in no such thing as a "quiet" character meal, since the characters will always be walking around, and folks will always be getting up to take pics, but several are better than others.

I would say one of the quietest ones we ever went to was Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner). I've never been to 'Ohana , but that one would probably wouldn't be too bad. The reason these two are quieter is because they are not buffets. At LTT, they bring platters to your table, at 'Ohana, servers come around with food - more busy then LTT - but still quieter than the buffets. At the buffets, everyone keeps getting up from their tables to get food.

Funny you mention conga lines because CP has one. You don't have to participate, in fact, it's more for the kids. I'd say CP is quieter than 1900 Park FAre (Though they recently redid that one, so maybe it's quieter than before - It was REALLY loud before), but I wouldn't say CP is very quiet.

Another one that's pretty quiet is the Garden Grill. It's also a family style meal - and - it overlooks the Land ride. It's also a more compact place, so it may well be even quieter than LTT. You can hear some ambient noise from the Land, but not too bad. I think it's also fairly adult oriented, if you look at the menu.

Oh, and there's also a character meal at the Swan. Dinner was fairly busy, but breakfast was not so busy. We last went on a non-character breakfast day, but we were almost the only ones there at 10am. Since the Swan does not participate in DDP (To my knowledge) the breakfast there would probably be fairly quiet, especially a later breakfast. I haven't stayed over that way in a few years though.

Having said that, I do enjoy CP. the food there is quite good, both for dinner and breakfast. I've never tried lunch, but we've gone to late breakfasts and seen them changing the food over as we were leaving and it looked very good. We thought about tasting the lunch food, but we were already too stuffed, and eager to get on some rides. During the day, CP is very bright and cheery. At night, the lights are magical. It's also a convenient location.

I liked Chef Mickey's , too, but it's probably the least quiet.

Years ago we went to a character breakfast on our honeymoon. ( it was in the Playhouse Disney building). We really enojoyed ourselves. The characters stopped to talk to us ( Aladdin, Jasmine) and take pictures. It was the first time we both had ever been to Disney.

If you want to go to a character meal, then go and have a good time. I dont even think twice about couples alone. (sometimes I even envy them, eating in peace )

Chef Mickeys is a favorite of ours. We love the atomsphere of being able to see the monorail go through the hotel. We like to walk around the gift shop area in the Contemp too.

My favorite character meals for grown-ups are Chef Mickey's and Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. Both have good character action, good food, good service, and great atmospheres and locations.

My favorite character meals are CP lunch/dinner and LTT dinner. I love the food at both, and the character interaction is good. If I had to pick one over the other, I would probably go with LTT.

Oh I wouldn't worry about being an 'adult only' party. Me and DBF are both 23 and we're doing Chef Mickey's and CRT on our trip in April. I'll be making sure we get plenty pics at these, as this may be our only oppertunity to meet the characters as I'm almost sure that the outside character lines will be crazy long - and I'm not sure if we'll have the time to wait in line!!

DH and I are both in our early 30's with no kids and we enjoyed Crystal Palace quite a bit. It was nice to just enjoy the atmosphere and watch the kidlets enjoy it. We're going back next trip for dinner.

i would say 1900 Park Fare..its very initimate without all the party time with mickey or dancing with pooh. unless you want that. also the food is FANTASTIC! we just came back from there and we loved it.

breakfast you get mary poppins, pooh, tigger, mad hatter and alice

dinner- cinderella, stepsisters and im not sure who else.

Yes, they can be noisy...because there are kids. But you and your GF are a kid too--everyone is a kid at Disney World! You should go--they are so much fun--even as just two adults! My DH and I go every year to the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom so that I can have breakfast with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet and wouldn't miss it for the world. We are 55 and 50 (I'm the lower age there). You will love it.

Thanks for the great tips!!! I'm definitely going to go on 1 or 2. Now, I'm just trying to decide which are the real good ones. I love breakfast buffets but wouldn't mind trying a dinner too. Anyway, thanks for posting.

As a 55yo kid, and been more times then I have fingers and toes, I prefer LTT, CP and 1900 PF.
