If we are staying at a Value Resort.....

Arriving Saturday 8/27.

We are probably going to go to the Magic Kingdom the 1st day!!!

Should we eat somewhere at the park, or try a meal at the Grand Floridian or Chef Mickeys?????

Do you think we will have any luck getting a ressie???????

New to the whole Disney Dining thing (1st time staying onsite!!!) ... thanks for the tips!!!!!

We did Liberty Tree Tavern at the MK on our first day. It was great! Great characters and GREAT food!

I'll second that. LTT is a great choice if you want to get in the "Disney" mood... the character interaction here was better than at any other character meal we've been to.

You just gave me a heart attack. My anniversary is the 27th and I have a special dinner planned at the Kona Cafe...but for Sunday not Saturday! You should have seen me racing to the calendar!!

If you want to eat at the MK (on the 26th), the Crystal Palace is also a good character meal. I don't really care for the choices at LTT, I would rather have a buffet.

I wouldn't leave the park for a meal. It's a big time waster. There are many good places to eat in the parks. I'd vote for Crystal Palace character breakfast and/or LTT's character dinner in MK. Do Chef Mickey's for breakfast on a non-park day. Just be sure to investigate what parks to do on what days before you make your ADR's. IE: My rule is never go to MK on a Saturday or Monday. It really makes a big difference.

I enjoyed leaving the park last year. We went to Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fair and had a nice leisurely meal and enjoyed the break. Definitely felt recharged going back to the park. If you have girls in your group, I think this character meal is a must.

Another vote for LTT. It's a fun character meal with good food. I agree with the suggestion to save Chef Mickey's for a non-park day if you would like to eat there.

Garden Grill!! When we went last year our first day was a Sunday. We went to MK ad then took the monorail over to Epcot. My kids loved it, and so did the adults.

We did 1900 Park Fare. Our DD, 3 at the time thinks Cinderella is absolutely wonderful so this was quite magical for her :wizard:

1900 Park Fare was our first meal upon arriving and it made for a most memorable trip...We have decided to make it a tradition to go there our first night..

We always go to MK on arrival day and finish the first night off at Chef Mickey's. I can't think of a better way to get you in the Disney spirit.

We've always done Chef mickey's.
I see a lot of votes for 1900, we're doing that this time for our last night. I'll let you know ;)
