Which Character meal for adults?

I plan on taking my boyfriend to Disney for his first visit to the world in October. He has asked to do at least one character meal while we are there. However, in my 4 trips to disney I have never done a character meal and I'm not sure which one would be the best for adults. I was thinking of maybe dinner at Chef Mickey's the night we arrive. That way he'd get to see the main characters and would truly be immersed in the Disney Magic. But I'm worried it might be too little kiddish. I was also thinking maybe breakfast at the crystal palace on our first park day so he could enter the MK early and walk down an empty main street. He was a big Winnie the Pooh fan growing up and still is. Any other suggestions? This is his first visit and his first real trip to any where outside New England so I just want it to be perfect.

Those are the two I was going to suggest. They are classic characters and adults love them!

Consider dining experiences where you will be able to interact with face characters. For example, the princess dining experience at Akershus.

Ohana for breakfast is a nice choice...Very relaxing...Mickey and Pluto are there along with Lilo and Stich...The food is served family-style and is not childish at all...Great on a day that you are going to MK or Epcot...Just jump on the monorail after breakfast!

I love an early breakfast seating at Crystal Palace; we did this on both (all adult) trips, and all enjoyed it both times.

since he is a pooh fan, crystal palace for breakfast would be perfect! with an early seating, you will also get to see the park before it opens and get pictures of main street and the castle without crowds. we LOVE CP and usually eat there for lunch-the citrus-marinated flank steak is to die for.

I like Chef Mickeys as it is a fun experience and you have the wonderful food. Do they still serve the Prime Rib? You can joke around with the characters and have a blast too.

If he loves Pooh, The Crystal Palace is the place to go. We like to do a late lunch there. You will see all the pooh characters as well as these really cool topiaries in front made of dried flowers that are Piglet, Pooh, Tigger and Eyeore. You get to have your own time with the characters who will take pics with you and sign autographs...I highly recommend it.

If you go to the breakfast at the castle...the cheese stuffed french toast is soo good!!! I had to laugh when Alice came in and she was "late" LOL.

Whichever one you pick, I am sure you will have a blast!

We love Crystal Palace for an early morning breakfast in the MK -- it is a must do for us each trip. We were not impressed with Chef Mickey's for dinner the last two times we had dinner there...would definitely do breakfast over dinner. We also thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Cape May Cafe with Goofy, Donald and Minnie in their beach attire. We've not done Ohanas since they switched it to family style (I prefer a buffet so I can choose what I want to eat) and we are not fans of Stitch at all (much preferred this when it was Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale).

I've got to put in the plug for Donald's Safari Breakfast
at Tusker House. You even get Daisy Duck there!

1900 Park Fare also has Pooh at breakfast...Buffet is better at Crystal Palace and it really is great to get that 8:05 ADR to be on Main Street when it is empty...But 1900 is a bit less child like.

DH and I do not have children and we have done many character meals over the years. We haven't been to any that seem "childish", the food has always been very good and the characters are just as good with the adults as they are with the children.

Garden Grille (Epcot in the land) is family style with Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale.

CP-great for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we have done them all.

1900 Park Fare-the food is fantastic, but the characters are Cinderella, Prince Charming, the stepmother and stepsisters

Chef Mickey's is fun. However, DH and I were not overly impressed with the food. It was ok, not bad but not great either. Great character experience though.

Ohana Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch is awesome! Love it!!

Ohana Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch is awesome! Love it!!

Just to clear the possible confusion...Breakfast is with Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger...Dinner is with Cinderella and friends.

A lot of people enjoy the 1900 Park Faire dinner with Cinderella, the stepmother and stepsisters. I have read that it's a lot of fun, very entertaining.

We just got back yesterday, 2 Adults no kids.
Crystal Palace for breakfast was our favorite of all the character meals that we did. The food, atmosphere, and characters were great; esp if your BF is a Pooh fan, he will love CP. Getting that 8:05 ADR is awesome, walking down an empty Main Street is quite breathtaking!
We also did 'Ohana which we loved. The benefit to 'Ohana is that it is not a buffet. You don't have to fight with the lines at crowded buffet areas or worry about missing the characters to go up to the buffet.
1900 Park Fare was the least favorite of all. The breakfast is Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice, and Mad Hatter (no Cinderella or stepsisters!). I thought the buffet offered at CP was better than 1900. Tigger was much more subdued at 1900, at CP he is his bouncy self! I would do CP and 'Ohana over 1900.

We did Chef Mickey breakfast last year for our 25th annivesary and enjoyed it very much. There was a nice variety of food, the characters were just as attentive to the grownups only groups as they were to the tables with little ones! Then we jumped right onto the monorail over to MK!

My boyfriend and I went to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and loved it! It felt very fancy and the food was great. They also have Pooh and Tigger plus Mary Poppins (my favorite! :goodvibes). It's great to have some face character interaction.. they were all very funny

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to look into breakfast at 1900, seems like the perfect mix of characters. I'd love to try ohana's but we are both not big stitch fans. I wish they had a character meal with more characters for boys, I know my BF would love one with the Toy Story or any of the Pixar characters.

I would second Tusker House. The atmosphere there for breakfast is fairly calm...even if you end up with two high school bands in your room like we did! The food is for grown-ups, too. I think the atmosphere there is appropriate for adults.

For our last trip, just the two of us, we did the princess breakfast at cinderella's table (several princesses), and saw pooh and the gang at crystal palace, and we did the princess breakfast at akersure's in epcot. If we could have squeezed in more, we would have. I recommend you do whatever you are able to and enjoy all the magic you can get! Enjoy it - make memories! Those feelings of being a kid again and believing in magic is what it is all about!
