Which character breakfast?

My wife and I have our anniversary coming up on September 22. We are planning to spend the day at Disneyland, and want to start the day with a fun character breakfast. We'd like to ask the fellow DISers what character breakfasts they like at DL, as we have only done character dining at WDW. It's just the two of us, no kids, although my wife might say I fall into the kid category. We are looking for info like food quality and assortment of available characters. What would be the most fun?

Since it is only 1 day, I would do Minnie and friends at the Plaza Inn. Goofy's Kitchen may have a better food selection but Minni is in the park and has a great variety of characters

I second ballarinamom. I love Minnies. Goofy's is nice and the food is decent, but you just can't beat the amount, variety, and interactions of characters at Minnie's. The last time I went was with my family, all of us adults, and the characters even played around with us quite a bit. Geppetto and Captain Hook had a little "tussle" using my DB and myself as shields. It was a great time. We also saw Gideon from Pinocchio the last time, which you never see in the parks. I recommend this breakfast over the others all the time.

I agree, I'd do minnie and friends. The food is really not that great, its not horrible but definitely nothing to write home about. But, you'll see tons of characters and the convenience of being in the park is HUGE!

If it were me, I'd make the ressie for a mid morning meal to take full advantage of lower crowds at rope drop. You can get so much done if you move quickly in the morning. Then, at about 10:30 you'll be ready for a nice meal and some relaxation. When you finish your meal, everyone else will be starting to hit the eateries for lunch but you'll be riding!!!

I totally agree with all the OP's! I love Minnie and Friends. Always a lot of characters and a nice assortment of breakfast eats both warm and cold.

Am thinking of trying Goofy's Kitchen though this year too, I've heard good things about it as well. We figrued why not seeing we were able to add the room discount promotion we saw on Twitter yesterday, that gave us the free character breakfast in addition to the one we already purchased.

9/22 is a Thursday.

- Will you only be visiting DLR for ONE day?? (why only one day?)

- Will you be staying on-site?

- When does DL open that day? (& will you have MM priviledges?)


I would agree with those who recommend touring first & eating after you have ridden the slow loaders & collected a pocketful of FPs (for use later).

But it depends on when the parks open, where you are staying, & how long you have to enjoy DLR.

I should have been more specific. We are annual pass holders, and we live like 5 minutes from DL. It's not important to get on a ton of rides, or anything else, because we go about three times a month, so our visits are short and we don't rush, because we are close enough to go back whenever.

We are gonna have a nice breakfast, spend a nice day at the park, and finish the day at Steakhouse 55. We are mostly gonna take pictures and see the shows, like Billy Hill and maybe a parade. We were just curious which breakfast would be the most fun and/or most tasty!

If you go to Minnie and Friends early (at park opening) when it's not busy, then I think the character interaction is really great. Because the restaurant isn't full, the characters can spend more time and interact with you, and each other, a lot more. I've seen a lot of shenanigans between the characters - like Hook locking some of them outside, or some of them "stalk" each other - it's a lot of fun to watch.

We are trying Minnie's for the first time based on the many people recommending it on these boards. In general, I think the main reason is the potential for more characters and certain characters that you don't see elsewhere. That and the fact that it is in the park instead of at one of the hotels. There are numerous threads describing each breakfast and have so many different opinions that I can only tell you what I think people are saying in general. The food seems to be slightly better at a few versus Minnie's. We like the food at Storyteller's better than Ariel's last year. We are trying new ones this coming trip.
