Which Character breakfast?

<font color=navy>Hi Dana,

I'll give you the character meals in order of my own personal preference:

Disneyland Hotel

Goofy's Kitchen B-L-D
The food is very good - buffet, with excellent character interaction... I've seen Goofy, Pluto, Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine, Mad Hatter, etc. I've heard others compare this to Chef Mickey's at WDW. The characters visit the tables, and every now and then everyone dances in the middle of the restaurant. (PS can be made)

Disney's California Adventure

Avalon Cove L-D
We had dinner there, and one price will get you soup or salad, entree, dessert, and beverage. Ariel greets you in the foyer, and we were visited by Minnie, Goofy, and Chip and Dale - I think more characters come here. The food is good, great ambience, and in the evening you're treated to the lit-up Paradise Pier. We danced the conga with the characters --- great interaction, and the food was good here. (PS can be made)

Disneyland Park

Plaza Inn B
Buffeteria w/Pooh & Friends. The food is good here, and Pooh & friends will visit you. I'm not sure if PS can be made, but we've never needed to make it.

Paradise Pier Hotel

Practically Perfect Tea with Mary Poppins Set times
Have your choice of tea with soup, finger sandwiches, and dessert, while Mary Poppins sings and visits with you. I wouldn't call this an intense character interaction, but the atmosphere is very nice. Your party sits at a table, and Mary Poppins comes in two separate times and sings a song. She goes back out, and returns to visit with each table. Afterwards, you take pictures. I found this to be charming. (reservations with credit card)

I haven't experienced the following:

Grand Californian Hotel

Storyteller Cafe B
Breakfast with Chip & Dale. Chip and Dale greet you when you come in, and you have a choice of buffet or menu (I think). I have heard that the chipmunks do not visit each table individually.

Paradise Pier Hotel

Breakfast with Minnie B
I don't really know about this experience. Hopefully, someone else will have more info.

Avalon Cove doesn't include dessert anymore, fyi. We were there just last Friday and saw it is now an additional $$$ item. <Booo hooo... Wanna go back now!>

Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian is a really laid back character breakfast. Chip & Dale are there and typically stay in the lobby/waiting area. Occassionally, they round up all of the kids and dance around the restaurant. This is really first class food here - fresh fruit, salmon, bagels, home fries, etc. It tends to be quieter here - so noisy kids really stand out in this restaurant (ask me how I know... my little darling has been known to <ahem> attract attention.)

Minnie's in the Paradise Pier Hotel is also a fairly laid back CB. Minnie and Daisy were there when we went. The food was comparable to what we saw at Goofy's Kitchen in terms of quality but not as varied. Minnie and Daisy visit your table and take a good amount of time to visit.

Other info: to my knowledge, the Plaza does NOT accept reservations. It's a walk in. It's a fantastic way for kids who are crazy about the Pooh characters to meet and greet (take photos, get autographs and therapeutic bear hugs). In fact, while the food isn't out of the world here, the quality of the character interactions far exceeds that of any other CB, IMHO. Be sure to try the omelettes here - they're quite good.

I think Goofy's Kitchen has the most variety of food and characters. The fruit is sometimes frozen and sometimes fresh.

If your biggest concern is great food - Storyteller's is the place. If you want it quiet but not like a library, Minnie's is your place. If you want a therapeutic hug for yourself... Pooh at the Plaza can't be beat.

Try them all (we have)... enjoy!

last time we were at DL, we got the "magic morning" character breakfast in the part and we got into the park an hour early.

my question is......if we "upgrade" to goofy's kitchen breakfast, do you still get into the park early? anyone know? since that restaurant is not located in the park.........

My understanding is they no longer have the early admission - as of 2002. We miss it!!!!

We went to Goofy's Kitchen for character breakfast and for dinner. It was very much like Chef Mickey, very lively. For dinner last year, Belle was there. Every half hour or so they danced to Mambo #5, Disney's version, and Belle danced with the kids. After the dance was over, Belle sat down and had storytime with the kids. My DS, DD and DN were so mesmerized that they were not at the dinner table half the time.

It's 30 days out, and I got PS for Goofy's Kitchen. I'm hoping for a few face characters, maybe a princess?
Thank you for the info everyone!

When we went to Goofys last August the characters we saw were
Mad Hatter & Alice
Jasmine & Aladin
Goofy
Genie, in the lobby for pictures.
There may have been more but these are the ones I remember off hand

Not having done a character meal at any of the Dl resorts, do they take priority seating reservations like at WDW? We are planning a trip in Oct. for a couple days, would like to try and do the Goofy's kitchen meal, didn't know whether to call for seating or wait until we get there.

Thanks so much, they all sound like so much fun! I can't wait to take my grandchild to one of these...I'm spoiling...I know...but its a grandparents perogative...right:p

<font color=navy>You can make priority seating reservations for the character meals & restaurants in Downtown Disney, etc.

The number is 1-714-956-6755

It's easier to make PS's at DLR than at WDW still. We've made them in the same day (unlike WDW, where you usually call 30-60 days out)

Re: Practically Perfect Tea - please see my separate post on the board

mickey4ever - I think you'll really like Goofy's Kitchen at DL hotel. I've heard it compared to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. The character interaction is excellent, and the food very good.

Enjoy :)

Thanks Mary Jo for input. I was leaning towards Goofy's kitchen anyway. My grandson is only a little over 2, so I doubt he'll be expecting too much;) but I think it will be just the right setting for a little antsy 2 year old! I guess its more for us to see him with the characters, but that's what its all about...seeing their joy.

Again, thanks:D
