Which character breakfast would you recommend?

We're going to DL late May with two kids (2 1/2 boy & 6 yr girl). 42 more days to go :yay: Just wondering what character breakfast you would recommend, which characters were there and what time you would recommend going. Our travel agent recommend Goofy's Kitchen and we were thinking of going around 8-8:30 before we hit the park. However, maybe that will be a very busy time? Also, how long would you expect to be there?

I'm so happy to have found this site. I've found answers to many of my questions that the guide books don't seem to answer.

My families personal favorite is Minnies at the Plaza inn, in DL. We like to have a light snack in the morning to get us going, go to DL for early entry and play for a couple hours, then have a large late breakfast at Minnies. We like to go around 10am. The park is starting to be busy around then, and we are hungry. One of the reasons we like it, is that we dont have to waste time to leave the park to go to breakfast. We like to be at the gates at opening so that we can hit rides while the lines are short. If you have breakfast at 8 at Goofys, you are not going to get done until 9 or 9:30. Then you are going to walk to the park, and it will be pushing 10am before you get in the gates and to a ride. Unless its a 10am opening that day, thats to late for us!

Characters when we went were: Minnie, Pooh,Tigger, Eeyore, Chip and Dale, Hook and the Fairy Godmother.

Food: waffles, french toast, fruit, pastries, made to order omlets, sausage, bacon, ham, bisc. and gravy, potatoes, cereal, juice, milk, etc.

We have done Goofys. It was ok. We didnt have the same level of character interaction we have had in Minnies. There were more food options, but I wouldnt say the food was any better, just different.

Our personal favorite is Storytellers. But we had two pretty awful experiences at Goofy's and PP (Minnie & Friends at the time). I like the calm, relaxing, non-chaotic atmosphere at the GCH and the fact that you can order off the menu (we're not huge breakfast eaters so the buffet just isn't worth it). The character interaction was wonderful for us we spent a lot of time with Miko, Chip & Dale, Kenai and Koda, and Timon. The banana stuffed french toast is to die for.

I have been to all of them and enjoy all of them. I like the fact that Minnie's is inside the park which can be very convenient. I agree with Linda's strategy for Minnies: eat as late as you can so that you have time to ride some things in the uncrowded morning hours. However, when are you going in May? If the park opens at 9:00 or 10:00, which sometimes it does during the week, you could do an 8:00 a.m. seating at Goofy's and be at the park for opening or within an hour of opening. Minnie's only opens when the park does, so if that is 9:00 or 10:00, you will spend your first hour to hour and half in the park eating with little or no time to ride before you eat. At Minnie's we have seen pretty much the same characters Linda mentioned in her post. And her listing of food is just like I rememeber. Another thing I really enjoy about Minnie's is that they have some nice outdoor seating. Its a really pretty setting.

We have done Goofy's the most, over 10 times and always had great meals and great character interaction. I agree the menu is more varied than Minnie's Here is the breakfast menu from the allears website:

Brunch: 7am-12pm Mon-Fri/ 7am-2pm Sat & Sun
Adult (12 & up) $21.99
Child (3-9) $11.99
Gratuity and tax will be added to each admission price and is charged prior to entering the restaurant.

Five fabulous food islands featuring:

Create-Your-Own Omelet Station
Carving Station
"Mickey Mouse" Waffles & Pancakes
French Toast
Sausage & Bacon
Muffins, Pastries, & Desserts
Fresh Sliced Fruit
Breakfast Enchiladas
Sweet Corn Tamales
Chicken Breast Tenders
Goofy's Famous Peanut Butter Pizza
Soft-Serve Yogurt with Toppings
And much, much more!

They also have a very good dinner buffet. I like dinner very much. That way we can enjoy the parks during the morning, take a midday swim break then head to dinner at Goofy's before heading into the parks for nighttime fireworks.

We also really like the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Here is who we saw: Lilo, Stitch, Pluto and Minnie. I have heard other people say that other characters have been there for them, but we only had those four our last visit. Food was made to order omlettes, scrambled eggs, waffles, french toast, bacon, sausage, all sorts of breads, rolls pastries, hot and cold cereal, fruit and yogurt, and then some Hawaiin things like rice and pineapple bread. Its all really good and you can also order off a standard menu. The characters play some fun games with the kids.

I agree the Storytellers Cafe is awesome but the character interaction is more limited. Unless your kids have seen Brother Bear I would probably not pick that one. The setting is beautiful there and I agree, its the most low key of any of the character meals, it seems to draw the fewest little kids which is not always all bad!

Oh and another one I will mention is Ariel's Grotto. Ariel's is inside the California Adventure Park and serves lunch and dinner. It is not a buffet, you have a choice of around six entrees and each one is served with either soup or salad and a dessert. Its not a huge choice but the food has always been decent when we have eaten there. And again, its inside a park so that is nice. Its also sort of nice its not a buffet, that way you don't have to worry you'll miss a character while you are filling your plate. If you have any Disney Princess fans this is the one for you, that's all there is. The princesse's make their rounds, coming one at a time to each table. Ariel is in her ball gown not her mermaid fins. Last time we ate there we saw: Snow White, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella and Belle in her yellow ball gown. My daughter was in sheer heaven!

You cannot really go wrong with any of them. It all just depends on which characters your kids like. We generally do one or two character meals each trip and have never not enjoyed ourselves or left hungry! You can make reservations for any of these up to 60 days in advance by calling: 714-781-3463.

Enjoy your trip to Disneyland!

If you are only going to do one and your time is limited, I agree with doing the Plaza Inn after early entry. It is the best choice not having to leave the park because the early times are when the lines are the shortest. I think it also has the most characters.

I think Goofy's has better food but I don't like giving up park time for it so we do this breakfast when we are leaving! It extends the disney time and everyone is full for the travel ahead.

Storytellers has good food too but few characters and my kids did not like it. Lilo and Stitch was okay, good food and some different characters like Daisy Duck, stitch and lilo but it really is out of the way and still not as many characters as Minnies.

We like Goofy's Kitchen the best. I just don't really care to see the Brother Bear characters, and you can see Chip and Dale at Goofy's. I want to be able to see most of the main characters, like Goofy, Donald, Minnie ect... We haven't done Minnie and Friends at the Plaza yet. We did go to it when it was still at the Paradise Pier and it was really nice.

We've only been to Storytellers for dinner, no charcters other then breakfast. We ordered off the menu. Nothing fancy, sandwhiches and such. We were pretty shocked at the bill. We found it quite over priced for what we ordered. The food was okay, and the atmosphere is nice. But because of the lack of the more popular characters and the prices off the menu, it's not our fav.

thanks to everyone who has replied so far. It never crossed my mind to do the one in the park after EE. That sounds like a great idea. Did you find it crowded? I think it's a toss up between Goofy's Kitchen and the Plaza. I will definately be making reservations for Ariel's Grotto for my little princess as well.

We've done them all and my families favorite is Lilo and Stitch at the Paradise Pier Hotel. It was awesome! The food is the best and the character interaction can't be beat!

Our personal favorite is Plaza. We have done Lilo & Stitch, Goofy's, Ariel (not for breakfast :) )

The reason that I like Plaza is when we are done eating, we are already in the park. The kids get to see the characters and they are not in a rush to see them later and I can throw a few extra snack in my stroller :rolleyes1
