I need help... I was not planning on a character meal, but so many people said they're children really enjoyed it. I am stuck between Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast and O'hana's Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo & Stich. Your opinions please....

I'd say go for Chef Mickey's; they're classic Disney characters and in my opinion the pictures with Mickey and gang will be more fun to look at down the road than Lilo and Stitch, unless your son is really into that movie :)

last month my family and i went to minnie and friends character breakfast at disneyland. i must say , the food was not that great , but the experience with the characters was fantastic. it is something you should try to do at least once wioth kids. what a great way to see and take pics with the characters!

I hate to muddy the waters more but my 5 and 3 yr olds both loved the Hollywood and Vine breakfast with the Little Einsteins last fall

I think he would love Chef Mickeys. its a fun resturant that the whole family will love!!

It all depends on your DS- does he love the "classic" characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald)? Does he go more for Lilo and Stitch? Or the Playhouse Disney characters? My DD couldn't care less about the Little Einsteins or JoJo and Goliath, so we don't do the H&V b'fast. She loves Stitch, so we like 'Ohana's b'fast. Mickey is at both Chef Mickeys and 'Ohana, if you want to see him.

Honestly, the characters are the main reason for the character meals- IMO, the food is all pretty similar. So, go for the characters you want to see.

Best character choice for breakfast food in the area is probably Crystal Palace- which features Pooh and the gang, and is actually in the Magic Kingdom with close view of the castle.

Given your two choices: Chef Mickey's is probably the better food and character choice, unless your kids are big Stitch fans.

We have never done Chef Mickey's breakfast so I cannot compare. But we did really enjoy Stitch at O'hana's. It was Lilo, Stitch, Pluto and Mickey when we were there in tropical wear. DD went in the parade twice, we had great character interaction. We would go again. The food was good, it was fun and best of all DD loved it!

Of your 2 choices, I would say that we prefer Chef Mickey's - DD really gets a kick out of the singing and dancing that goes on there. Also, there are lots of food choices, whereas 'Ohana has a skillet (all-you-can-eat) of eggs, bacon, etc.

It's definitely worth it to do at least one character meal - DD is 8 still enjoys them very much!

With a 4 year old I would do more than one character meal. It works out so much better than having to stand in a line to see the characters and get autographs! I would do Chef Mickeys for dinner and then do either Ohana Lilo and Stitch Breakfast or Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) breakfast.

We did both on our last trip. Chef Mickey's wins hands down in our home( all 6 kids adore it!)

Happy Planning!

I have a nine and four year old and we are going to disney for the first time, and i have ressies for three character meals. First how could you go to disney world and not eat with the big guy himself so we are going to chef mickeys, we also are going to 1990 for princesses and then crystal palace for winnie the pooh on mnsshp night. To me it kills three birds with one stone:
1) better interaction with characters(photo and autographs)
2) Of course you have to eat anyway
3) they are buffets, so i dont have to worry about what they server compared to what my kids eat

ps i know my son probably wont like the princesses, but i heard they give bigger boys kisses on the cheek, i expect that will be a funny memory to look back upon!!

i just got back 3 weeks ago with 2...3yr olds (well 4 in 8weeks) we went to chef mickeys for breakfast the 1st full day we where there. they didnt eat much but they LOVED it.
we are goin back in sept (free dining!!!) and will do chef mickeys for dinner and then try ohanas for breakfast the morning we fly out!!

We took our DS 4 to Hollywood and Vine breakfast with Jojo, Goliath and the Little Einsteins. Also went to Ohana breakfast. He loved them both.

We loved Chief Mickeys! The food was delicious and the character interaction is fun! The picture is a nice suvenir to take home.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I decided to do 2 character meals. We will going to Hollywood and Vine on Friday, November 23 at 11:45a.m. for the Character Lunch and then on Saturday, November 24 at 7:00a.m. Chef Mickey's for the Character Breakfast. I am sooo excited. I cannot wait to see my son's face and the twinkle in his eyes. I really appreciate the input.
