Hi! My husband and I are planning a 4 nights Disney Cruise with our 4 yr old daughter next May 2003. We are having difficulty choosing our cabin #.
Originally, we chose category 9 and we were told by our TA that only available cabins rooms are aft and forward only, no midship available anymore. First cabin assigned was cabin 2646. But, I read that this cabin belongs to the "noisy" area of deck 2. Our TA changed the room to cabin 2020 deck 2....is this better????

Also, we are seriously thinking to changing to other category # if we cannot book a nice/quiet "noise free" room on deck 2. Thinking about among these category and cabin # also aside from the one mentioned above:

CATEGORY 11- CABIN 6581 (midship) DECK 6
CATEGORY 8 - CABIN 6522 (forward) DECK 6

Which among these is the best? Please help ASAP!

Hi Patricia, welcome to the DIS!

I'm just popping this post over to the Cruise Board for you where there are plenty of folks who can help you with your decision :)

If you would like to get away from Deck 2, I would take the Category 8 on Deck 6.

I have been in 2632 on Deck 2 and had no problems there. Noises in the morning at port, but we just used it as an alarm clock.

It is worth it to have the porthole to look out of.

Remember when you're deliberating on choosing just the right stateroom, your room may be changed at any time without your knowledge or consent. It hardly makes it worthwhile to worry about it.

In a category 9 you will here some engine noise, not real noise but humming. We had a category 5 on deck 7 and it was silent there. I'd say go for the category 8 on the upper deck.

Aseafish...I hope they change my cabin from a category 5 to a category 3. Now wouldn't that be nice LOL:Pinkbounc

I'm confused about the change without notice comment...We've never had that problem and I haven't seen it on any of Barb & Tony's reports - my thought being they always select a cabin and if the law of averages were any measure it would have happened.

I am aware that booking a guaranteed room category and not a specific room through DCL might mean not knowing precisely which room until the last minute. Or is it something different?
