Which car?

my suggestions are:

Sage Green 4 door VW Rabbit:

it looks more grey in this pic but they're green in person. My wife has a black 2 door 2007. it's a 2.5l 5 cyl. 6 speed automatic. we got the ipod adapter/arm rest option. for under $20k you can't beat it. good options. reliable. good warranty. i've had VW's all my life and they're great.

Also if you're into a crossover type: VW Tiguan. my friend works for VWofAmerica and so i've driven around with him in just about every model VW and i must say i do really like the tiguan.

check out VW.com for all the options but it's really easy to mix and match the options.

i'm just a VW nerd. i love em. but i do think the fit is a nice compact car and also the mazda 3.

We have been a Ford family for our entire 25 year marriage and DH's family had nothing but Fords before that.

When looking for a car for DS last year and doing lots of research, we ended up with a Acura TL for him. We haven't been sorry.

We loved the Acura so much that a few months later we purchased an Acura RL for DH.

The service we have received from the Acura dealer (really Hondas) the past year far surpasses anything we have ever experienced at a Ford dealer. We are hooked and we will now be Acura/Honda owners for the future. And believe me, it would have had to take an exceptional car to move DH from Ford to a foreign car. Needless to say, it was.

I would highly recommend giving Acura a look and seeing if there is anything there that interests you.

FWIW - My Ford Expedition has had numerous recalls on it over the 10 years we have had it as did my Windstar that died at 78,000 miles.
my mom has an 04 MDX and my dad just got an 09 TSX yesterday. i must say, even though i'm a german car fan, Acura is good stuff. FWIW my dad's baby is his 1931 Ford Model A and imho that was when american cars were at their peak :)

We just got a 2009 Honda Fit. It's a GREAT car. Incredible interior room. Very economical and stable on the snow and ice.

Keep your current cars. Even a "good deal" on a new car is expensive if you don't need it. We drive our cars for a minimum of 10 years. It saves us a lot of money. Sit down and do the math sometime. Driving cars for a very long time won't make you seem cool, but it'll let you keep a lot more of your hard earned money.

True - we shoot for 200K per car. We get pretty close or over that each time. Much better deal economically.

DH and I have been married for 40 years. We have always bought cars and vans from the Detroit 3 and American Moters (before AMC was bought out). We have always recieved wonderful service from our local Detroit 3 dealers and service departments. I guess we have been blessed with great cars, great dealers and great service.

I guess you have. I didn't start out hating the Big 3. I bought from them. Their shoddy workmanship and service though changed all that and I know many who feel the same.

I think it's a futile exercise to try and change the minds of those of us who have already lived to regret our Big 3 purchases.

If you bought a pricey piece of junk would my blowing pixie dust about it change yours?

Maybe.

Our 1st Snowmobiel was a lemon I swore I would never buy that brand again. Our friend told us the newer models are much improved and guess what we bought that brand again.
