I'm clueless about cameras & thought this would be the place for educated opinions.
I want to purchase my DS(16) a camera for Christmas, so I don't have to worry that he'll destroy mine.
He's also getting a replacement Ipod & a laptop, so I want to get the cheapest one possible that is decent & contains the features he'll use. (He didn't actually ask for the camera.) Anyway, I'm thinking he'd like a digital camera that can also be used sort of like a camcorder. Will this be outrageously expensive? Should I just get him a 60 min. digital camcorder instead? I want to start looking for deals & want to know what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance for your advice. It will be very much appreciated.

He's not the most responsible 16 yr. old on the planet.
He'll want to be able to take pics & record video to share online. That's pretty much it. I really don't know where to start as for as pricing goes. I don't know how much they are. Basically, I want to get the cheapest digital camera, w/ movie function, available. As long as it takes clear pics, he'll be fine with it. For him, it will be a toy.
