Which came first, Freebirds or Chipotle?

Here in Texas, I discovered Freebird's burritos. YUM..........my new favorite.

But then I heard people start talkign about Chipotle, so I looked it up. Looked exactly like Freebirds! So, which came first? Freebirds or Chipolte?

Is Chipolte a national brand?

I believe Freebird's was first. I had heard about it for awhile from Tx A&M students in the mid 90's. We ate there for the first time in about '97.

Yes, Chipotle is a national chain with many more locations. Chipotle says they were founded in 1993. Freebirds opened in 1987 and the first TX location (course College Station) opened in 1990.

I have eaten at both, and both are close enough to eat at where I live, and we much prefer Chipotle; I like their meat better. Their pork is SO GOOD. Plus they have the best chips with lime salt. Chipotle, near us, is always crowded while Freebirds rarely is. It may be due to location, though - Chipotle is at a better spot and easier to get to.

My best friend is an Aggie and she thinks Freebirds is much better but they brainwash them to say that in College Station
