Which Building at OKW

O.K. we are booking a 2 bedroom at OKW for June 2007

We are VERY excited!!

We have 4 adults and 4 children and I was wondering if I could get opinions on the best building to request. I have requested ground floor but what about being able to see fireworks, bus stops, pools, etc... Any favorites??

Any help would be greatly appreciated..this is our first trip in 6 years and the first trip with kids ages...2, 2,4, 5.

We just stayed there in September of this year, in a 2 bedroom villa. It was our first time staying there. There was a ton of room, and it was nice. We stayed on the top floor, and to be honest, it was a pain to keep climbing up all those flights of stairs everyday, so maybe a first floor stay would be good. Unless I'm missing something, we didn't see any fireworks at all from OKW. We requested a building closest to the Main Building, which is also where the restaurants, store and main bus stop are. It is a very large sprawling property, and there are several bus stops and several pools. But since we didn't stay at any of the other ones, I can't speak for them. We liked where we were, but check the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for their recommendations. Our building was 13 (right across from the main stuff). Have a great time!!!

I prefer the Building 26 cluster. It's right by the Peninsular Road bus stop and it's convenient to the main pool and amenities.

I think everyone has a different favorite area. I love Building 15 and 16. They're very convenient to the main area, pool and food, but they're far enough away to feel quiet. And you're mid-way between 2 different bus stops.

We like building 42 by the Turtle Pond Pool.

Several very good suggestions. I agree with the Turtle Pond area because it has both the Snack Shack and the quiet pool for the little ones. Also near a bus stop. On the other hand, the Peninsular Rd area is very close to Olivias.

make sure you ask to NOT be right next to a bus stop. If your kids go to sleep at anytime before midnite, you'll have to listen to the transportation buses pulling, breaking, kissing and pulling out again VERY frequently.

Another vote for the Bldg 26 cluster - best of all worlds, from our point of view. OKW is our absolute favorite and you can't really go wrong at any location. Enjoy your stay!!

You are probably not going to be able to see fireworks. You can see Illuminations from some of the rooms but the way that OKW is intertwined with the golf course you really need to be on a higher floor to get a good view. I personally like bldg 14, 18, and 35 because they are "U" shaped. The other buildings parking is right in front of the rooms themselves, with those buildings parking is in front of the building, but the building is a U with a courtyard so the rooms are set back from the parking lot. They are all close to a bus stop and a pool so there is not a difference (in my opinion). 14 is right across from the Hospitality area, 18 is down the road a little bit on Miller Road and 35 is in the Turtle Pond area. (35 is my favorite because it is a U bldg, it is near the bus stop and not to far from the pool and it is on the lake.)

Whatever you decide just remember that it is harder to get requests at OKW than it is at any other WDW resort. Because it is DVC membership, they really stick to the first come first serve when it comes to requests because almost everyone has a request and they are often the same request. So I would suggest requesting ground floor and smoking or non and then just asking for a specific location when you check in (the earlier in the day you check in, the better).
