Which bed setup will I get at Boardwalk or Yacht Club?

I knew I had seen standard King rooms as a category somewhere. I think maybe one other has them too, WL? It's not many, though I don't really understand why. Why can't you book it anywhere? Even if it's only a few? Odd.

I notice you can book a standard King room in both the GDT and the regular CSR rooms. I agree, it's really odd that you can't book a King or choose your room, configuration at most of the resorts. It seems like choosing sleeping arrangements is a pretty fundamental premise at most hotel chains.

What is it you want if not at least 2 beds? If you have 3 people you won't be assigned a King room without a day bed too.

If you request 2 queens the odds are so great in your favor you'll get it
They do not have many King rooms at the Deluxe resorts, which is why assume there are so few ways to book them.
We request King all the time and rarely get it. It's not make or break, it's the only request we make. We don't care if we have one or not really.

That is exactly what I want, 2 beds lol. It says I "may" only get one king bed? If I have 4 people and there is a chance I could only get one king that could definitely put a damper on things lol.

And this is just a standard room reservation, not dvc.

There is NO, zero, zilch chance they put a room with 4 in a Standard King room.
They will do 3, if there's a day bed.
But Disney doesn't expect 4, even kids, to sleep in 1 bed. And they don't expect to put someone on the floor.
Everyone gets a place to lay their head. A real, official bed.

Mods all let you book King.
OP was asking about Deluxe

We booked a Bay Lake View in the tower (non club level). I’m trying to decide now if I want to switch to the CL GDT deluxe suite (king bed and queen pull out sofa) guaranteed or stick with the CR and try requesting 2 queen beds. I have become a really restless sleeper and have this terrible tendency of kicking the heck out of my poor husband in my sleep. I used to sleepwalk, but thank goodness that has not happened in over 10 years! Sorry to the original poster for hijacking your thread.

I would stick with what you have at CR. You can put in the request for 2 queens, but if they do give you a king, you will also get a daybed which is far more comfortable, IMHO, than the pull-out sofas. At CR, you can also ask if they could please give you a 2 queen if they originally assign you a king. I travel alone with my DS12 a lot and we have gotten the king/day bed rooms on occasion (which worked fine for us). At BC once, though, I asked if we could have 2 queens and they granted the request. It just depends on availability as, I assume, they want to save those 2 queen rooms or 2 queen/day bed rooms for parties of 4 and 5 if necessary.

As PPs said, there is zero chance you will get a king bed room with 4 guests. This is exactly why, in room categories where they have all of the different layouts, parties of 1 or 2 are more apt to be assigned a king so they can save the 2 queen rooms for bigger families.

Ahh, I see. How odd that they let you book the king rooms at the mods, but not the deluxe. I wish they would change that.

Many thanks for the tips! I’m glad that I at least know what to expect going in and can at least put in a request, ask to be moved, or have the day bed option at the CR.

All I am getting at is why would the room at these resorts be the same price? To me there is still a big difference between the rooms with 2 queen beds and 1 daybed with the rooms that have 1 queen bed and 1 twin size mattress chair. If I am paying over $600 bucks a night to sleep on a twin size mattress chair I might as well go to back to the contemporary where I am sure to at least get a queen size bed lol.

There are no resort non dvc rooms with 1 queen and a chair
It’s either 2 queen or 1 king

Actually, some of the room categories at YC list: 2 Queen Beds or 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed

And at BC, some room categories list: 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Day Bed or 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed

In the EP resort area, BWI is the best bet to not have a 1 Queen scenario as they only have 2 queen or 1 king layouts (some with day beds).

OP, how many do you have in your party? If booking any of these resorts, I would just avoid the room categories that list that 1 queen scenario. For example, standard view or deluxe room at BC would fit the bill for 2 queens. Deluxe room in particular guarantees you two queens at BC.

I knew I disliked BC and YC for a reason. Well, a lot of reasons but that's a biggie. Nuts. I knew the DVC rooms were like that but didn't know regular resorts were. I wonder if that's accurate? There are errors on the bed configurations on MDE. Some are shown that don't exist. Not that I remember them now

But wait, so it's 1 queen, 1 chair and 1 day bed? That's not too bad. I was thinking 1 queen and 1 chair. That's very small room.

When my son and I travel together, I always call (most recently the Yacht Club) and tell them that I am traveling with my adult son and we need a room with two beds. Simple.

King bed has been an actual booking category at all four Moderates for several years now. As a complete guess, maybe because most Moderates have at least twice as many rooms as any Deluxe, so a greater percentage and number of King beds - giving Disney the ability to make it a booking category.

We have 4 in our party( 3 adults and 1 child). Thanks, I will look at those room categories.

Can you give me your reasons for not liking YC and BC? Still deciding on a different resort. I have always loved being able to walk back to the MK with a child and a stroller so that is why I am looking at the 3 resorts you can walk to HS and Epcot. Now I might consider Caribbean Beach since they have a Skyliner station plus they have a fifth sleeper option room. How crowded are these stations in the morning and evening and does the line move pretty quickly? Thank you again for any advice.

We don't appreciate the themes, are odd in that we don't care for SAB. They just aren't enjoyable resorts to stay in for us. We adore with huge puffy hearts Boardwalk though. If we stay in the Epcot area that's where we stay.

And we’re the complete opposite. We don’t care for the BW, but the BC is our favorite resort by far. 😊
