We would like to visit a beach on our on on St. Thomas. Which did you choose and why? Did you like Saphire, Meagan's Bay or Morning Star? Thanks :sunny:

We love Magen's BAy. The beach was clean, beautiful and not too crowded either. The water was very calm and the sand was powdery.....................sigh...............Wish I was there right now!

It depends on what you want to do, I think. For snorkeling, I'd say Sapphire or Coki. With kids, Coki or Magens Bay. Coki Beach has Coral World right next door, which is fun for the kids. I don't think Morningstar Beach is particularly special, except for the fact that it's the closest to the cruise ship pier.

There are also some good beaches on St. John: Cinnamon Bay (my favorite), Maho Bay, and Trunk Bay are generally considered to be the best. Trunk Bay is probably the nicest, but is usually very crowded, especially if there are a bunch of ships in port that day.

Because of our TA's suggestion, we 4 adults, no children, went to Magen's Bay. It was beautiful, not crowded, gentle water, and there were taxis just waiting there for our return trip.

We always go to Sapphire Bay when we are in St. Thomas. Beautiful clear water, snorkeling at a very close-in reef, and the resort has a pool.

Of course, Coki Beach has Coral World adjacent, which is another of our favorite places!

I've been to Sappire Beach and it is beautiful. This cruise we are taking our children to Coral World and Coki Beach. I hope it is beautiful as well. I'll let ya know!

I have been to Magens Bay and I can't say I would go there again. It was a small beach, and there was really nothing there. It was beautiful, but what beach isn't in the virgin islands? The water was much colder there too because it was enclosed somewhat. I would go to sapphire beach.

We loved Coki for snorkeling and Meagan's bay is great too. All the beaches were clean not to crowded and the water was great. Hope you have fun on St. Thomas. i had a great time there did some serious shopping there. I have been there 3 times and love to go back.

We went to Coki Beach and were very happy with it. The beach itself isn't huge, but we had plenty of room. Beautiful, white powdery sand; calm, gentle, clear blue water. There were waiters/waitresses from a few of the nearby bars who would bring you drinks or food; there was a location to rent chairs and umbrellas; coral world was right next door; Coki Beach dive shop is right on the premises if there is anyone who wants to SCUBA dive (they even have a cool program for 8 - 9 year olds who want to dive ... our friend's DD did this and loved it); there is a nice snorkeling area; plenty of taxis available for the trip home; and it looked like there were jet ski's available to rent if you crossed the street to the beach behind Coki. It worked perfectly for us since the DH's wanted to dive; the children wanted to play in the water and the sand; and my friend and I wanted to lay out on chairs.

WE are looking for somewhere to rent jetskis on the Eastern. Any suggestions.

In St. Maarten, they rent them on Great Bay Beach. You can take the water taxi over from the pier and you're right there.

I believe I read somewhere on one of the posts that someone rented jet ski's in St. Marteen. Maybe try a search. Hope that helps.

Are there taxis at the dock to take you to these beaches? And at the beaches to get you back again? Any idea how uch the fares are?

DH rented a jet ski at Great Bay Beach on St. Maarten.

There were jet ski's to be rented across the street from Coki Beach.

And I can only speak from my own experience regarding taxi's ....
We took a large open-air taxi from the port on St. Thomas to Coki Beach and back again to to the port. There were plenty of taxis to be found both at the port and at Coki Beach. It cost us $7 per person each way (for the adults) but they charged us 1/2 that for the kids since they were on our laps. One drawback to the taxi that we took ... the driver wanted to fill the taxi before leaving (there were 4 rows of seats that each held about 4 people plus seats up in the cab) so we had to sit for a while as he tried to find more people who were going to the same beach as we were (or at least were on the way). The good thing though, was that we asked our taxi driver to meet us at Coki at 1:30 to take us back to the ship and he was there for us at that time. All in all, it was very convenient and easy!

Hi

St. Thomas is great for gold and gem stones. You can get it for half the price you pay on the mainland.

My sister recently returned from a Celebrity cruise and this was her second visit to St. Thomas. The first time she went to Magen's Bay, the second to Sapphire. The cab driver recommended Sapphire Beach - said it was the best on St. THomas. She liked Sapphire beter - less crowded and less expensive - also beautiful!

Thanks for all of the beach help!! I knew all I had to do was ask!! You guys are great!!
