Which bars have nicest atmosphere?

This is the seating area outside of the Bellevue lounge at BWI:

They have frozen, but I like mine on the rocks.

Thanks! That's good to know since I like mine on the rocks too and the ones at Leaping Libations at the BW pool were terrible! They do make a mean Bloody Mary there, though. I'll give the Dawa Bar's rocks margarita a try next time.

Our favorite is the one in the Yacht club, the Crew's Cup. We have had drinks in there while waiting to be seated for Yachtsman Steakhouse. It's very quiet and charming. I agree about the one near Ohana. It's always mobbed with people waiting for both Ohana and Kona.

I also like the one in the BWI, the Bellvue Room. It's very nice. I've walked past the one in the BC, but have never gone in. It looks pretty quiet too. Most of the people waiting for dinner at Cape May Cafe all wait in the lobby.

I have a question about the Dawa bar in AK. Do you have to drink the drinks there or do they come in plastic cups to walk around the park with? I would love to stop by here to get a margarita to stroll around the park. :thumbsup2

They come in to-go cups :). The bar is outside next to the tumbling "stage "near the Tuskar House.

Great! Thanks, strolling is always so much better with a margarita in hand! :goodvibes

Another vote for Mizner's.

I alos love the bar at the CG. You can only get up there with reservations. Now since they started letting reservations people only up, it is less crowded and much quieter. I think the best time is being in the CG during sunset, very romantic and very beautiful - I think it's even more beautiful than the fireworks..theres something about the watching the sun set and the lights going up in the MK. The show starts with the colors in the sunset to the colors of the lights.

I have tons of pics of this but the one thing I cannot figure out how to do is shrink my photos so I can post them. I have tried for hours and :badpc: I have given up.

Also, Dawa is outside, but do they have indoor seating? Or do they have fans? I'm going in September, when it could get pretty hot to sit outside.

3 of our favorites:

1) Martha's Vineyard at the BC
2) Crew's Cup at the YC
3) The Bellview at the BW

Our absolute favorite is the R&C at Epcot, but that's a totally different atmosphere.
I have to agree with you regarding pubs. However, my favorite beverage at the Rose and Crown is a "black and tan."

Dawa is outside but Tusker House is next door which has some air conditioning. Having said that, AK is the "hottest" park overall. Even the in-door places are warmer than the in-door places in other parks.

But, in early Sept if there is a breeze the Dawa can be quite pleasant in the early afternoon.

I got a blue drink from Dawa Bar and it was fabulous. The breeze was nice. I loved the atmosphere.

Thanks for the great feedback so far! I thought I read that Mizner's still allowed smoking. Is this true? (I would need to avoid it if true.)

For a quiet get-away-from-it-all atmosphere? My 3 faves:

Martha's Vineyard
Belle Vue Room
Mizners

Thanks! This is all very valuable information for our upcoming trip :drinking1 :)

Question ... which restaurants have bars that you can drop into for a drink and maybe a snack? I believe Jiko has a bar we'd like to visit. Where else?

Hi Penny,

I'm hoping to compile a similar list. So far it looks like BlueZoo, California Grill, Flying Fish (the bar affords a view into the kitchen) and the one next to the Yachtsman Steakhouse. There must be more so I'll wait for the more experienced to offer advice.

BTW- is that a German Shorthaired Pointer in your sig? Gorgeous dogs!

Great! All three sound good. I know some of the restaurants don't have a bar area (how rude!), so we were wanting to narrow our list of possibilities.

Yes, both are GSP's! They're very sweet, and very busy! :)

I would not count on the California Grill for a snack and a drink. They only allow people with reservations up to the 15th floor when it is busy. You must go to the CF Reception Area on the 2nd floor to see if they will allow you up there. IIRC, access to the 15th floor is now key operated by CMs.

I would add Prime Time Cafe to your list. I LOVE their bar and I know you can get appetizers there. I also love the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. They make a mean LapuLapu (fruity rum drink served in a pineapple) and they also serve appetizers.

Here is a picture of a LapuLapu taken a long time ago (look how young my DD is!):
