  • Tiering (e.g., in EP and HS)

  • Can't use FP+ in more than one park per day

  • Requires too much planning (and/or reduces spontaneity)

I really don't think participation will increase much either. I think Disney knows this, but I think Disney believes the vast majority of people will perceive it as a fairer system.

I wish people would quit using the word "fair". It's been stated over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, this has nothing to do with "fair", it's about limited ride capacity issues, and trying to keep people on property. This system isn't for us, it's for the powers that be. It's all designed to keep our money on WDW property by scheduling us to do so. It's been stated in every investor meeting and financial press conference. "Fair" isn't in their vocabulary.

So, go ahead and keep dreaming that they care about you, your family, and your overall vacation experience. Disney is all about fantasy, after all.

Tiering means that you're allowed one FP for a major attraction, and the other FPs are for minor, or less popular attractions. So only one of the FPs is needed and useful.

Thank you. I didn't notice that to be the case at all in October when I went but again it was in test phase I think.

I voted "other"..

My least favorite part of FP+ is the number of negative theads and the panic that has taken over the DIS.

:lmao:

What bothers me the most is the gleeful shadenfreude of the soap-boxers constantly rubbing our noses in the fact that all of the abusers have finally gotten their comeuppance and can no longer usurp FPs at the expense of others.

Mine is definitely the limit of three. We definitely used the system to its fullest and with small kids waiting in line is not a great option...unless they continue to make line queues like dumbo lol.

I know that I am of the latter but I'm not actually bothered that much about fast pass plus. I understand why people don't like it, but I see it as a way to have a better planned schedule. I get high anxiety at times and this is just another way so there are no surprises. If I had to choose I would choose either the limit or the fact you can split them in other parks. Either way it doesn't really bother me and I find I wouldn't mind it if it never changes. With the limit of three I get it. You want a fast pass for more things. But I don't. In each park the rides that I think you need passes for comes out to three. I think it was smart of them to choose a number that fits multiple things. When I tested it I found myself having to choose rides I didn't really need fast passes for. That brings us to my next problem; not being able to switch passes for other parks. I don't mind this because if you have the park hopper, like we usually do, you like switching. So my idea was to have rope drop at one place and ride the rides with high waits at the afternoon then instead of getting fast passes we don't need. Then we you are ready to leave you go to the next park and use the passes you already booked. Problem solved. Even if it makes standby times longer.

This whole fairness idea is nonsense for other reasons, too. How was the old system unfair? Because some people failed to inform themselves about it? Good God, any CM could explain it to you in a minute or two. The information was on the Disney website. And on sites such as this. And in travel guidebooks. And, and...

All people had to do was lift a finger to find out how to use Legacy FPs. This was not some well guarded state secret.

But some people just couldn't be bothered. So whose fault is that? Is it the fault of those who actually did inform themselves, and used a system that was readily available to every single person with a valid park ticket? So because some were willfully ignorant, that's why Disney squandered $1.5 billion (and counting)?

Don't believe it for a second. FP+ is an unfortunate byproduct of Disney's real agenda: tracking our preferences through RFID and making it easier for us to buy stuff while in the parks (no need to even reach for your wallet; just wave the magic band. Oh, you swatted at a fly? You just bought a $50 sweatshirt!).

P.S.: If FP+ really has slowed down standby lines (because it takes longer for a CM to verify your FP reservation) then the system is an appalling failure, way beyond our most pessimistic fears. The pro-FP+ camp has insisted all along that this thing would speed up standby lines. If it has slowed them down instead (as I keep reading it has) that is an outright slap in the face for us all. Slower moving lines are the last thing any guest wants!

Fair for who??

I personally don't care for the two months of advance FP+ that some have access to.

But that's me. The field already not level so let's make it more so.

I also don't like the one park only but I have feeling that Disney will fix that quickly.:thumbsup2

As for complaining, It's a lot of money and people are going to complain if they don't like something. It will be fun for me when some random guest is cursing out the FP+ machine because it doesn't "work.

I chose other. The thing that bothered me most while in WDW was the tiering, but the thing that bother me most on the Dis was not listed as an option - the whiners.

How do we know that more people will participate? Will the advertising be enough? And if they don't participate, Disney of course just assigns FP+. Will Disney assign those hard to get rides and if they do, will people use them?

I'm not convinced that participation will necessarily increase that much.

I think this is an excellent point. I only have my personal experiences to go off of, as well as what my friends and family have told me about their experiences, but I know that my husband and I are using significantly fewer FP+ selections than we ever used FP. At Epcot, there just aren't enough attractions for us to use FP+ for 3 separate selections, with or without tiering. With both find Test Track to be terribly boring and find no thrill in Mission Space. We love Soarin' and would use 3 for that ride alone, but that isn't an option. We didn't need FP+ for The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, or Turtle Talk with Crush. So, at Epcot, a place where we would often use at least 4 fast passes for Soarin' alone, we used 1 FP+. My sister and her friends happened to go the same time we did. They said that they didn't end up using the FP+ selections that they had because they were unnecessary at the time. They would change their selections, but the rides offered just didn't have that kind of demand. We would figure that if the ride was a walk on or even a 5 minute wait, no need to waste a fast pass on it. But, the majority of the fast pass selections never got above a 5 minute wait.

And, when it came to Animal Kingdom, it did what I believe was the opposite of what Fast Pass+ was supposed to do: it had us in the park for significantly less time than we used to spend there. In the past, we would have used fast pass more than 3 times in the park. With the limit of 3, and the lack of other things that hold our attention there, we spent 4 hours in the park, and a large chunk of that was while we were waiting for the parade. Now they're getting rid of that, too. If we aren't in the park, we aren't spending money in the park. Napping or swimming at the hotel doesn't make them a profit.

What bothers me the most is the colossal amount of money/resources spent on this. I consider myself a fairly savvy WDW visitor and have used at least 2.5 hours of cast member time trying to to get my two-room RSVP fast pass linked correctly. (Not including my crazy long hold time-wish we could get help line FPs!!!). The tier rule is never going away-it can't without going against the intended goal of FP+... The best we can hope for is being able to book additional FPs after initial 3 are used. Park hopping? Maybe...but likely still with tier restrictions.

A year from now, I -unfortunately- predict my beloved Disney Co.'s "Magic Bands" will be the source of many jokes in business news. The benefit will never overcome the cost (and not just in dollars...). Oh how I wish they had invested this money into new attractions!!
