Does anyone know which POR-Alligator Bayou buildings have been renovated?

Thanks

I can tell you that building #15 was not yet renovated January 4-9. It was a very "tired" room. I think I read in someone's post before we left that all of the mansion are done and the the buildings in AB that are furthest from the foodcourt. Hope this helps.

Building #27 was fresh and beautiful. No signs of much wear and tear and you can't beat the walk to the bus stop! :D

I surprised my son with a pre-Christmas trip to Disney on 12/18 to 12/23. From a earlier stay in 2000 , I stayed in Bldg. 27. I asked for this again for this last trip. This bldg. was all booked up. The nice lady CM told me that she could do better than that. She gave us a room in Bldg #18 which is very close to the food court. It has a quiet pool behind it too. Unknowing to us, when we went to our room, it was just like brand new. We were the first guest to stay in the newly renovated room. I believe the whole bldg. had been done. The new drapes and bed spreads had the nice smell of a new house. As a matter of fact, the water to the new toilet had not been turned on. I had to call the desk to have it done. It had no valve, it required a socked wrench. The room was 1864 if you are interested.

Wow Ronnie,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to POR in Feb. and I would love to try something new. We always stay in building #27 so I don't know about any other location. Is this building close to a bus stop too?

Thanks for the info!! Building 18 looks like a great location, so does 27. Is

building 18 a more expensive preferred building? Are both of these nonsmoking?

Thanks :D

We had non-smoking rooms in building #27 and you couldn't smell a trace of smoke.

tiggersmoms2, It's a strange way they handle their non-smoking policy at POR . Being a non-smoker myself I did a lot of research on this for my first stay at Dixie Landings ,now POR . Bldg.27 where I stayed then was non-smoking. They room doors have a non smoking logo on them. I never saw anyone smoking at the bldg. However I must say, even though Bldg.# 18 alos has the non-smoking logo on the rooms, I did see a guest smoking on the walk way outside of the room. This was just just a few rooms down from mine. I guess one can only trust the honesty of the other guest to follow the rules. I will have to say, I did go to the guest services and enquire about the matter. They did tell me, even though the bldg. might be desigated a non-smoking one, they do have blocks of rooms in them that allow smoking. I will say that all the ones I have stayed in never had a smell of smoke.

The price of the rooms in both buildings are the same. The only difference in the rooms as far as price is wheither it's water view or not. Personally I think the water view room at POR is not worth the extra money . Building 18 has a small quiet pool behind it , and I believe it also has a laundry faculity there as well.

Bldg. 18 is listed as "smoking optional" in the Passporter Book, but if it has been renovated, I think I'll try it (requesting a non smoking room) for our trip in February. We've stayed in 14 and 15 and they are kind of tired looking.

I have to say to the non-smoking rooms comment. I am a smoker but dislike staying in smoking rooms. When we stay in non-smoking rooms, I'll take a walk to smoke outside and try and be conscientious if someone comes walking near me. I didn't realize this was "against the rules". If you book a non-smoking room... isn't it just the room that's non-smoking ?? I'm not up to start a smoking argument or be flamed for this... I just feel like such a leper when I smoke and want to make sure I don't offend others.

Also... does anyone have any pictures of these rehabbed rooms? :D
