We are doing a value in October and husband does not like POP theming and AoA’s big pool says it will be under construction fall 2020. So we are trying to figure out which All Star resort is everyone’s favorite and why. I know the bus is shared but what’s the all star bus schedule as far as which one is gets picked up first, second, last.
Or should we just do AoA even with construction?
thanks!

When buses share, which isn't all the time, it picks up at Sports, then Music, then Movies. I would say that right now the advantage goes to Movies for comfort because the rooms there have been completely refurbished. If that's important to you, then I'd definitely book there. If it's not, then whichever intrigues you most when it comes to theming is what you should go with. My family doesn't really care for Sports, but we're not big sports people. A lot of people like it because it's the first drop off and pick up when resort buses are shared.

We are leaning towards movies. Do you know when they don't share vs/ share? We are staying Oct 31-nov 5

Honestly, we've stayed there four separate times and there's no rhyme or reason to when they share lately. It used to be that most of the time, they didn't share in the mornings or when coming back from the parks after close, but on our latest trip in January, they did. In fact, during the last trip we took where we stayed there, they shared buses more often than I had ever experienced before. So, I guess the answer to your question is that I don't know. :) But I've never been in a situation where I wasn't able to get on a bus to the park from the resort because it was too full from stopping at the other resorts. You just may not be able to get a seat. I think a refurbished rooms trumps the bus situation for sure if you're on the fence. The new room layout is much nicer. And even with the sharing of buses, the bus transportation at the All Stars is better than the bus transportation I've experienced at other resort levels, including deluxes.

But I will add that if you're worried about buses, then you can request to stay in the Mighty Ducks section at Movies and simply use the buses at All Star Music. Those rooms are actually closer to the main building/bus stop at Music making it very convenient to get back and forth from Music.

We asked for preferred room. Do you know if that will be good?

We enjoyed the ASMusic on a trip 2 years ago. We did ASSports with our kids when they were younger and they loved it, but we liked ASMusic better.

Are you sure you want to give up the Skyliner access over the theming issue? We just stayed at POP in March and honestly would not give up the Skyler for anything at this point. Particularly with this post-Covid existence, the Skyliner allows you to avoid (crowded) buses for 2 of the 4 parks. It made a huge difference in my experience going an entire day w/o riding a bus compared to our prior day with long waits for (crowded) buses.

Movies is our favorite. We stayed at Sports on our last trip. It was nice, but, if there are any types of youth competitions going on at the ESPN complex or nearby, the sports teams will typically be housed at Sports. There was a wrestling competition the last time we were there, and it was extremely loud the whole time. Plus, I believe that Movies have refurbished rooms.

And, as said before. The only time busses are shared is usually middle of the day where they bus lines are low. Morning and night the busses will typically run to your specific resort.

Since you mentioned pools, it's worth noting the main pool at Music is also scheduled to be closed in the Fall.

The buses going to all three resorts isn't usually much of a hassle (during the popular times they run separate buses), but based on our experience with all three resorts, our family all agreed that the benefit of getting off first after a long day at the parks made Sports the best for buses. Even if the resorts have separate buses, I still liked the fact that Sports was closest to the entrance of the complex so the trips were shorter, even if only by a couple minutes.

Movies has the refurbished rooms, though, and they really are nice. I would choose Movies based on that, but we found all three to be pleasant.

For theme I like ASMo.
For when buses share I like AS Sports.
My least favorite is ASMu. Not a fan of the front to back layout.

I don't like AOA.
POP is my favorite of the values so keep that in mind when considering my opinion lol.

We always just stay at whichever one is less and has availability at the time we are booking. To be honest though, we only do one or two nights at the front of a split stay. I think if I were doing the entire trip, I'd probably lean toward movies since it's been renovated and has coffee in the rooms.

We usually do one or two nights at a value also before moving to a deluxe. We have stayed all Star sports twice and AoA once. Sports isn’t bad, actually loved AoA but want to try a different resort. This will be our first time staying value the whole trip. Not happy about the double beds but I guess my husband and I will have to sleep separate and each with a child.

[/QUOTE how old are the kids ? Movies has a splash pad type kiddie pool area near the main pool and music does not. I don’t know about sports I haven’t been. If you have little kiddos movies might be the better pool option.

Oh perfect. I just ended up booking a preferred room at movies. My kids will be dd(12) and dd (3) -turning 4 during our trip. She will love the splash pad. Do you know which preferred building is best?

Just a note-POP is now about $30.00 a night more than the All-Stars because of Skyliner-we feel it is TOTALLY worth it,but it is a factor to consider. :)

We just stayed at ASMo in January. The rooms have been refurbished. Each room has 2 queens. One is a murphy style bed that can be put up when no one is using it. We really enjoyed our stay there!

My wife and I travel to WDW every year in the month of February. In 2013 we added a second trip in September. We always stay at AS Music. Why you ask? We love the cast members. They are so friendly. The resort has always been clean. The beds comfortable. The pools relaxing. Again I am going to clear up a popular misconception that the all stars share buses. ONLY during the slow times of early to mid-afternoon. You usually have 2-3 people waiting for a bus to any of the parks at this time and it doesn't make sense to have a large bus for that number of riders. This extra stop only adds a few minutes. Gives us time to meet new friends on the bus. In the morning or after 5 you never share a bus. You are also in between the other two all stars which means we have sometimes taken a sports or movie bus back from a park if they are available first. Not a bad walk back to our room from those two resorts. You can also share the amenities of the other two resorts. But again, like I first stated, the cast members (Sibil, Walter, Cathy, Fran and others) are just great.

Fantasia is front and center and closest to the pool. I think technically they're all similar distances from the main hall, but Fantasia feels right there and more convenient.

We were there the few days it first opened and were on it a couple hours before it broke down. Still debating going on it again!
