Hi, I am new to the board and would like some feedback on which All Star Resort to book. I will be at Disney Dec 15-19th and want to stay on property, but since I don't plan to spend a lot of time in my room, though the All Stars would be within my budget. I'm in my late 50's, and will be on my own, a sort of pre-visit this year to scout things out for next year with the grandkids. I'd like to be sort of close to bus stops and activities, but not necessarily close to the pools. Any suggestions? Thanks

First, welcome to the DIS!!!

It really depends on what you're looking for. All-Star Movies is typically the kids favorite, so you may want to stay there if you're skoping it out for a trip with the grandkids. On the other hand, if you're looking for a bit more peace and quiet, you might have some better luck at All-Star Music, which may not have quite as many kids as Movies or Sports.

and I would suggest ASMusic!

I like any Disney hotel, because that means that I'm going to the parks! After staying at ASMovies, I thought I'd always stay there, but wanted to be sure to get the best rate when I booked the last trip, so we chose Music. It was awesome!

It is in between the other two AS's and you can use pools at all of them, so you're within reasonable walking distance of any of them. In my opinion, Music has the best pools; the main pool is huge, with sprayers in the middle and the quiet pool is a piano. We were in the Broadway building-second floor, toward the back of the resort, and we were within easy walking distance of the pools, laundry, main building/food court/gift shop and bus stop. The food court was pretty good, including pizza delivery and the AS bus service is excellent!

The rooms were clean and mousekeeping was great; we saw lots of towel animals and our beanies were always posed in play when we came 'home' (we stayed 12 nights, so we moved in and set up house, toaster and all!). The exteriors of the buildings were looking good and the pool area had a sign that said "please pardon our appearance, as we are refurbishing"; although everything appeared in excellent shape right then.

Music is reported to be the quietest of the AS's, as most families chose Movies and many school groups are at Sports. When we arrived, Music had been taken over by the cheerleaders and the day they left, the school bands came in! But, we never really noticed a noise level, except in the food courts and pools in the evening. All in all, they were pretty well-behaved and appeared to be supervised pretty closely, so we didn't mind.

Whichever AS you decide on, I think you'll be pleased-because you'll be at Disney! Good Luck!

Welcome to the boards!! We have stayed at Music and Movies. We really enjoyed Movies. The food court in my opinion is much better. Which every you choose have a wonderful time.:D

That is my thoughts exactly...I'M AT DISNEY! Never stayed on-site the two times we've been there and am really looking forward to it -- some people think I'm nuts to go by myself, and I had the opportunity to go on a cruise, but just look at what Disney has to offer! If I don't feel like doing one thing, there are tons of other things to do. And it being the week before Christmas, I'll get to enjoy the decorations without having to pay the premium prices to stay. When I found oout the Value rates ended Dec. 19th (the last day I could stay), I felt it was fated that I go to Disney. I appreciate the feedback -- I was sort of leaning towards ASMusic, but this has made up my mind. Thanks a bunch!

We stayed at ASMu and loved it there. The only complaint I had, and it wasn't a big deal, was we were in the Country Fair building. That's a long hike to the food court and buses. But I would absolutely stay there again. Clean, fun and reasonably priced. You can't beat it. :D

HI,
I took my DM and my 2 DS last year and we stayed at AS Music in the Jazz building. It was very close to everything. MY 2 DSs are teens but there were several small kids thoroughly enjoying the larger pool and a kids pool. This resort is very geared to families with kids of all ages.
I am taking my sons again this year and the AS Movies had the best rate so we are trying that one out this year. I would be happy to give you an update when we return if you send me a note after 4/17. We are counting down for our flight on 4/9!!
I too would travel to Disney alone. There is so much to see and do, and while it is great to share the experience it could also be a great personal break for an individual.

I stayed in the All Star Sports last June and had an awesome time. Im sure you and your grandkids will have a great time wherever you stay. It doesn't matter, your in WDW! Happy Posting!

We have stayed at both Music & Sports many times and enjoy them both. The last few times we have gone we stayed at the Sports because we enjoyed that when the buses are stopping at all three resorts they stop at the sports first.
