We are hoping for free dining this year and plan to stay at POP. Everywhere I read on DIS, people have the same idea as me. If it happens that POP is sold out, I want to have a backup plan.

Which All Star is the best? DD would like ASMU and DS would like Sports.:confused3

Any advise would be great.

I'd pick .. in order:

Pop Century
All Star Movies
All Star Music
All Star Sports

Sports I never really liked.. I stayed there and it was ok.. but .. I still choose P/C first and bestest. ;)

I loved my stay at ASMovies.......my next pick would be music. I'm not at all into the sports theme.

We stayed at POFQ last year for free dining and it was only around $500 more than a value resort for an 8 night stay. Just a thought for you.

I totally agree with the others. Pop Century is the best value Resort followed by Movies. These two are the best if you have small children. You shouldn't really have a problem booking Pop during Free dining if you book early enough. But I would suggest Movies as a back up.

Were stayed at POP during out 1st visit and MUSIC for our 2nd visit....we enjoyed MUSIC just as much as POP.....rooms were recently ungraded and we stayed in the Boardway Building.....very quiet and night.

The only difference I found between the 2 was the bus service. POP always had specific buses for the resort, while sometimes with MUSIC, we had to share with the other 2 All Stars Resorts

Branmack --

my choices would be
1. Pop Century--love petals pool bar
2. All Star Movies--great icons for photos

3. Now this may change because I've never tried All Star Music --going to try for two days in March. I've heard the activities by the pool are great for kids and they have a beautiful rose garden.

4. All Star Sports--but for a young boy --I think All Star Sports would be
heavenly. Heard from other Disers that the arcade room is great!:thumbsup2

Have fun planning

Hugs Mel:goodvibes

I preferred Movies . My next choice would be music

We've done Pop last August and didn't really enjoy it. To Noisy and crowded. We really love Movies.:lovestruc
We are thinking of trying Musice In March 2009;)

Thanks for all the great advise. Both kids would love the Movies but I am concerned about the bus situation. Would we not be better to stay at Sports as they are the first ones on the bus? Have the Sports been updated? :confused3

I have had friends tell me Music is better since you are the first stop on the bus. Movies is the last.

We stayed at Movies last year for 1 night before the cruise and I loved the theme. Didn't do the parks but is was a long ride on ME to stop at the other 2 first.

Music is the 2nd stop ... Sports first, then Music, then Movies.

My preference would be:

Music - it's my absolute favourite!
Movies
Sports vs POP would be one we'd really have to think about. I don't care for the theming of Sports whatsoever, but POP is crazy! One food court for all those people. Mornings there are just plain nasty. :scared1: I loved the theming ... but couldn't stand the huge lineups for busses and food. :rolleyes1

Happy Planning! :goodvibes

Stay in the Mighty Ducks building at Movies. It closer to Music, yet still in Movies. We caught the bus often from the Music resort and they picked up first and dropped off first. The music also has activites at the main pool in the afternoon and evening.

It was perfect. Best of both worlds!

We did too and it was so convienient- we got the best of both worlds!
At first I was disappouinted when we were told Mighty Ducks ( being a girl it didn't appeal as much)- but the pool was right there- it was quiet and we could pick which fod court and always got the bus at music- shorter walk!
Even my resort mug was Music because it was nicer looking - LOL

ASMovies
POP
ASMusic
ASSports

I have only stayed at ASMovies and POP but walked thru the others when we were there.

WE were disappointed as well, when we first learned of Mighty Ducks ( Felt this should be in sports) anyway....we feel in love with the location and quietness. The pool was always quiet and New Years Eve, we watched the fireworks from the balcony's/ They were coming at us at each direction!

WE loved being close to Music Resort which I find pretty!

I really liked the theme of movies and all the big characters. One trip I had to walk around all of ASMovies with my youngest and my digital camera. He wanted pictures with all the big characters, but at the parks he was scared of the characters.:confused3

I've stayed at all but Music. I would have to say our favorite is ASMo, it's a quieter resort than the others. It's population seems to be a lot of families with younger children. Pop comes in second. It can be a very busy place, the pool always had people in it even when it wasn't hot. It was nice to not share busses though, you knew when one pulled up it was empty and not already 3/4 of the way full.

I would never stay at ASSp again. It was very loud, teenagers screaming in the pool until midnight. Parents hanging outside their rooms blocking the walkways with their coolers and lawnchairs. I understand this might not be the norm but wouldn`t want to chance it again.

Come on now, Ive been packed for 2 weeks!:rotfl:

I called DVC Member Services yesterday and switched into the AKV's for the first 4 nights of my trip, first 2 on points and the next 2 on cash(I had been calling once a week to see if any rooms had opened up since Nov 29th). It now add's a move to SSR, but I/we love the resort, and it's the girlfriends 30th B-Day trip.

Now, if only I can get a car rental for under $185 for 11 days it would be a perfectly planned trip!

Carol, have a happy and safe trip!;)
