Which airport?

Is SNA much more convenient than LAX? We will be using Disneyland Express. The cost to fly into SNA is a little bit more but not prohibitively so. Any other considerations that I am missing in comparing these 2?

IMO, yes. SNA is much closer than LAX. You will avoid a ton of traffic if you arrive during commute hours. It's a smaller, less busy airport, and easier to navigate as well.

Yes, go to SNA if you can, or Long Beach, both are on the small size and easy to navigate. Both are about 20-30 minutes away from DL depending on time of day and traffic.

we always fly into SNA or Long Beach.. we could have flown into LAX this time for $79. return using spirit .. but when we looked into that airline , ugh we didnt.. the savings would have been eaten up .. not only with their extra fees.. but with getting to DLR.. timewise and cost of transport..
SNA and LB.. are both much smaller so not as crowded, much closer and easier to navigate if you are driving yourself..

I would take SNA over LAX every time if the price was close, would still choose it if the SNA was a little more. Very quick to get in and out of and much closer to DLR so you save valuable time

Everyone else has pretty much covered it, but yes, I'd choose to fly out of SNA or Long beach over LAX any time possible. LAX is a huge airport to navigate, lines are terrible, and the traffic in the area is almost always bad. SNA and LGB are both smaller, quieter airports, easier to navigate and much closer to the park.

I like lax. It's not big for the traveler, as you go to the signs for your airline then go to very specific places. Seatac is big and confusing. Lax is focused. Coming in, you're in your own pod. Can't get lost. Airlines I've come in on, there isn't even any real choice of luggage carousels, you just basically end up at the one your stuff is on.

Last two times we've been to or from SNA if the driver is driving at proper speeds it hasn't felt that much closer than lax. We've shuttled, dl expressed, and rental carred it to/from lax and I can't recall a single issue.

Thanks all. I was originally booked into LAX and out of SNA but just changed to in/out of SNA. My only concern is that there are just a couple of SW flights/day on this route (BOS - SNA). I guess as long as I'm not booking the last flight of the day, we should be ok...and worst case scenario they can reroute us to/from LAX. The difference in flying into SNA instead of LAX was 1,600 points which is not bad. I'll stalk sw's website for a price drop and hopefully make up the difference before we go!

Good choice, you'll love SNA! We don't even look at LAX when booking flights to Disneyland because SNA has us spoiled. I love that airport!

If all else is the same then SNA is better, but if the SNA flight has more plane changes or inconvenient times then that could tilt the scale in the other direction.

They are very close to equal except that the layover time is a bit longer on the SNA flights but for SW on a coast to coast I don't mind that. It will give us time to grab a bite to eat between flights without a mad rush - we usually buy Early Bird and it's wasted if you are not at the gate in time for early boarding.

We flew into SNA from Seattle last March and it was awesome!

Much smaller than LAX and easier to navigate around. It was less than a 30 minute drive from SNA to DLR and not much traffic.

We will defiantly fly there again.

SNA is more convenient worth a $50-$100 difference in price of a plane ticket vs LAX.

To me, the biggest consideration is connections. If you can fly nonstop to LAX but need a connection to get to SNA, that negates the convenience of flying into SNA and I would choose LAX. But from your response, it sounds like you can do nonstop to SNA, too. In that case, I would definitely choose SNA.

Both flights to LAX and SNA include a stop. While I'd prefer to fly non stop, we're going on SouthWest from Boston and there are no direct flights. Since I'm using frequent flyer points, I want to stick to SW.
