One thing that took us by surprise was the traffic! We arrived in the early afternoon, and I think were on the freeway by 1:45. In the Seattle area traffic starts to thicken up after 3:00, but at 1:45 coming out of SNA it was heavy and slow. At least it was always moving, DH said, unlike in Seattle.
DH hopped in the carpool lane at the first opportunity, and it made a big difference. Just be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Disneyland exit, if I'm remembering right you get out of the carpool lane (which has barriers) to cross over into regular traffic, then all the way across all lanes to exit on the right.
On our last day, we had to wade through morning traffic to the airport and missed the carpool lane entrance, so were in the molasses lane for a bit. About halfway to the airport we were able to get to the carpool lane, and WHEW, what a difference! Gotta love it!
