Hope this post is allowed - we are looking into purchasing internal flights (LA to NY, NY to Orlando, Daytona to Washington DC, Washington DC to Las Vegas and Vegas to LA as it is probably cheaper than booking in conjunction with our international flights but there are so many airlines! And so many hidden fees! Is there a website that includes all airlines including Southwest so I can find the best and cheapest including all the hidden extras like baggage?

I know of no single website that will allow you to price all of the different carriers, even without taking into account "extra" fees.

Southwest and American are currently only listed on their own websites. As are some of the other regional airlines.

I would suggest for help with booking this type of travel, you check out a frequent flier discussion board called flyertalk.com

The people there are the true airline/air fare experts. Also, I am assuming you are coming from Australia from your name. Years ago there used to be a way to buy an air pass for a set number of days, for travelers coming to the USA; for example you had 30 days to fly up to 10 segments within one airline. I don't know if these types of tickets can still be purchased, but the flyer talk people will certainly know all the angles.

Good luck

I would suggest using a search engine such as Kayak, Sidestep, or BookingBuddy (each followed by .com, of course :)).

Using Kayak, and the month of May with dates of my choice - you can use Delta for the entire trip for $608.20 per person economy. Now, you fly into JFK and out of LaGuardia, and into DCA and out of BWI at this price. The only "hidden" fee is the checked luggage charge: $23 in advance for the first bag, $32 for the second - so with four legs/two bags, total would be $828.20 per person. If you could travel with less luggage, you could, of course, save money.

Southwest doesn't allow their fares to be 'checked' or sold anywhere except their own site. Starting with LAX-EWR May 1, the lowest fare is $219.10. Something tells me they're NOT going to be competitive with Delta... LGA-MCO is $171.40; MCO-BWI (because Southwest doesn't seem to have anything from Daytona) is $119.70 for a very early or very late flight; BWI-LAS is $218.40. Okay, I was wrong - that's $729.20.

I highly recommed Southwest. There are no bag fees and no change fees in case your vacation dates change. Also, if a better price becomes available the will give you the difference to use at a later date. Good luck with your decision, and have a terrific trip!
