Which "age defying" beauty products do you recommend?

My dermo recommended starting with retinol, an over the counter strength of retin A, and typically less irritating (and far less expensive). I used Neutrogena brand...again, check the labels.

I've also read that the only product that reduces the signs of aging is Retin-A -- it restores collagen to the skin.

My dermatologist prescribed it for acne about 10 years ago -- and now I'm reaping the benefits! My insurance won't cover it and I pay $85 a tube. Apparently, I'm too old to have acne :scared1:

Scootch, please share your source with me!!

What is the shelf life of a tube of Retin-A? I still have a tube from maybe 14 years ago. I got the prescription for some pimples, but really wanted it to keep the wrinkles away around my eyes. I googled the shelf life and came up with 24 months. Well, is that for real? Just because these companies say there's a shelf life doesn't really mean there is one. They just want you to buy more product.

When I started having kids I stopped using it (it's VERY dangerous to the fetus), so DON'T use it if you are going to be getting pregnant in the near future (or are pregnant now).

I recently found the tube packed away. Will it still be effective if I use it now?

My husband got me some burt's bees face products from christmas (it's OK, I asked him to LOL) and so far I love them! Naturally Ageless line.

where do you get it.....from the regular grocery store????

I like the brand from Whole Foods the best, best flavor (I use it for cooking/baking/frying too) and taste. As long as it's organic, unrefined coconut oil. I also like the Nutiva brand, I bought it on-line from their site this summer, a one gallon pail of it:eek:but I use it for everything! The Louanna brand from Walmart is not recommended though. I'm sure most brands in the organic/natural aisle at your grocery store is good.

I used to have little bumps on the backs of my arms, for years, and always scrubbed myself raw with body scrubs trying to get rid of them. I finally figured out it was the chemicals in body wash/soap and lotions. I switched to Dr Bronners baby mild soap (which I will also use on my face) and coconut oil and no more bumps. My skin is so soft and moisturized now. I will coat my hair with it, clip it up for awhile (normally if I'm cleaning) or leave it on overnight (put a towel on my pillow) as a great extra conditioner. I will also use a tiny little bit and leave it in my hair after a shower. I can't say enough about coconut oil, obviously!

I don't know, but I think it would have lost it's potency. And some old stuff can cause infections. I wouldn't use it. Just me.

There are many products out there that help you to reduce the signs of aging. The sales of these products are increasing steadily as more are becoming conscious about their looks and skin. I feel the best way to reduce the signs of aging is by using a moisturizer from a young age and trying not to go out in the sun too much.

Dr. Oz said that NONE of the anti-aging products work at all and it's a waste of money to buy them. I haven't personally found any that work so I'm afraid he may be right. Other than staying out of the sun, there's nothing much we can do.

The most important thing you can put on your face in sunscreen.
The sun in responsible for up to 90% of the visible signs of pre-mature aging on your skin. Use a broad spectrum (UVA and UVB protection) SPF 15 or higher every single day. If you're using a moisturizer or foundation with SPF chances are you aren't getting much coverage. You should be using a 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon of sunscreen to cover your face and neck to get adequate protection.

Retin-A is the best...if you or anyone you know is in Mexico they can go into any pharmacy or supermarket that has a pharmacy section and buy a large tube for $20 US with no prescription needed....:goodvibes

Years ago we used to go into Juarez Mexico across the Texas border to buy meds a lot cheaper with no prescription needed. Well, now you take your life in your hands if you go into Juarez and other border cities to Mexico. Seriously.

I don't care what anyone else says I believe in good face cream completely. I have always used it and as I have aged (I am 43) I have bought higher quality products and I get compliments on my skin and think that my skin looks for my age (well ignore the age spot from tanning:headache:)

I believe in sunscreen but I am bad and do tan in Summers ...hey I live in Phoenix and have a pool...but I wear 15 all the time.

When I turned 40 I said I was buying the good stuff...and Estee Lauder has been a dream. I LOVE the stuff. I use Perfectionist wrinkle cream before and Timezone moisturizer after. I also use Timezone eye cream. These are are for aging skin.

I also use Retin A....have rx from my dermatologist. I use Aveeno Calming face wash...great for my redness. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't leave home without having applied it first.
