Which ADR should I not use the DDP for?

Here's the deal. Going Thanksgiving week. Staying 6 nights/7 days which gives us 6 TS meals. We are a party of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids one of whom is considered an adult by Disney for dining purposes). My original plan was to do only 6 TS meals. The day we leave we were not going to TS. I had been checking dialy for BOG ADRs and as luck would have it one finally opened up for an early dinner the day we leave. I opted to schedule the dinner and figured we would start our long drive home after we finished eating.

This now gives me 7 TS meals scheduled with only 6 credits. We have never eaten at any of these resturaunts so I don't want to cancel any of them. THis leaves me paying out of pocket for 1 meal. Any recommendations as to which would be the best/cheepest to pay out of pocket for?

Whispering Canyon Cafe- Dinner
Chefs de France - Dinner
50s Prime Time Cafe - lunch
Liberty Tree Tavern - lunch
Boma - Dinner
Tony's Town Square - Thanksgiving Day lunch
BOG - Dinner

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I'm gonna say pay oop for 50's PrimeTime or Tony's (unless they are offering some kind of Thanksgiving special).

Hey! Just looking at our list, I would say Lunch at Tony;s would be the cheapest, BUT I would go to www.allearsnet.com (don't forget the "s") and price it out. All the buffets will be over $30 and with your kids being considered adults, that right there is $120 not including tip. Also remember that during peak/holidays times the prices are increased a bit on buffets.

Personally I'd calculate it all out and then decide.

Good luck!:)

As I understand it Tony's has a special Thanksgiving day Menu but I am not sure what the cost is. That is the one on my list I could probably do without but that was the only available ADR for Thanksgiving. I could drop that and do counter service but I can't imagine not having a family sit down meal on Thanksgiving. If I had planned this trip earlier, I would have preferred to do LIberty Tree on Thanksgiving and on my other MK day just to CS. But I cant seem to swing that at this point.

Keep checking if you really want to move that Thanksgiving ADR, it may still happen. Also remember that you don't have to just pay for one meal OOP. On fixed price meals pay with the DDP but on the others if there is one place you'd rather eat a appetizer as a meal then pay for 3 on the DDP and 1 OOP. This may save you more then just picking a location and paying for everyone at that place.

There are several ways to stretch your Adult credits at TS restaurants where you order from a menu:

-The previously mentioned if one of you only wants an app or no dessert you can pay for that person's meal OOP.

-Share meals. At the TS on your list you can use one credit for 2 people at Chefs, '50s, LTT (lunch only), Tony's (although I don't know if there are any special restrictions for Thanksgiving Day) and BOG.

-If your "Disney adult" child wants something from the children's menu you can pay for that OOP.

-If you want to pick just one restaurant to pay entirely OOP LTT tends to be fairly inexpensive. As a PP suggested, check the menus and see what your family would be likely to order at the various TS restaurants.

TO do this do we just order one meal and split it? I didn't think Disney would let two people split one meal if eating on the dining plan at a TS. AM I incorrect about that?

Yes, you can split meals at TS restaurants but not TS Buffet restaurants. Some, not all, also have a charge. My DD and I split an entree at the Yachtsman and it clearly stated their was a charge, but I was not charged.

Yes, you can order one meal to share. Most places will bring you an extra plate or sometimes split it for you in the kitchen. You can share at most TS restaurants where you order from a menu even when on the dining plan. One exception is Via Napoli where you cannot use one credit for 2 people.

You cannot share at buffets, all you care to eat family style restaurants, CRT, Akershus, the 3 dinner shows, Fantasmic! and Candlelight Processional Dining Packages or the platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Everyone will be charged for these meals.

As far as I know none of the restaurants on the dining plan have a plate sharing fee. We have never been charged one.
