Which 3 Weekdays Would You Choose?

we have a trip planned, coming up in may. we always go into the parks on weekdays, but we haven't been to DLR in a year and a half, and with all the talk of recent crowd differences, i was hoping some of you might be willing to give your input on which weekdays might be best, crowd-wise?

we were planning on a monday, tuesday, wednesday trip. would anyone suggest a tuesday, wednesday, thursday trip instead? i figure we should avoid fridays (we don't mind missing fireworks this time).

any advice and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!!

Not sure what time of year you are planning to go and it might not make much of a difference, but I would probably go with T,W,Th.

I'd say Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday just because theoretically, if anyone was taking a long weekend, they might be there on Monday or Friday, but I have gone on both Mondays and Fridays during the off season and didn't find much difference. If you were staying at a Disney property, I would DEFINITELY say Tues/Weds/Thurs because you could use Magic Mornings on both Tuesday AND Thursday. If you're staying off-site and Mon-Weds is more convenient, I'm sure it will be okay.

Every Saturday in May is blocked out for passholders, which will make Saturday's in May heaven crowd-wise. If you were inclined to see the weekend entertainment.

Having said that, there won't be any schools having vacations so any weekday will be good (I am assuming you aren't talking about anything near Memorial day of course).

no. memorial day is on the 31st this year, and we'll be going the week of the 17th-21st. i do think we'll stick to weekdays, just in the hope that it will be less crowded due to kids being in school. i'm really, really, really hoping that the time of year we picked will be ok crowd-wise. my logic was that a lot of people would have just gone for spring break, and that lots of parents wouldn't want their kids missing school so close to the end of the year. we homeschool, so we have a lot of freedom as to when we go.

we always get to the gates at least half an hour before opening (although we'll be shooting for even earlier this trip because the last time we went on a monday and tuesday, there were already long lines half an hour before opening...), we utilize FP, and i'll probably even work up a RideMax itinerary just to be on the safe side. i don't mind moderately crowded. it's just that this will likely be my MIL's last trip to disneyland (she hasn't been there in over 25 years!) and since she'll likely be in a wheelchair, obviously less crowded = easier and more comfortable. i really want her to have a great time.

thanks everyone for your input!!

You might want to consider that schools take day-trips and reward trips and 9th grade and 12th grade trips during the last weeks of school, too. I might consider going a little earlier in May if you could swing it, just to avoid a lot of the school groups. Choirs and Bands and other performing groups go during May, also.

We saw lots of school type trips when we were there last year after Mem. Day. Our kids were done with school, but lots of local-ish school groups were in the park.

hmmm, i wonder if we'll be affected by this? oh well, not much i can do...although we homeschool, my oldest is in college this year and doesn't move out of her dorm until the week prior to our trip. so, we have to wait.

i think the band thing is all year though, honestly. one time we went in february for my oldest daughters birthday and she brought a friend whose sister happened to be performing with her school band at disneyland that day, too.

thanks for mentioning it! i think i'm veering towards a tuesday, wednesday, thursday trip.

I would do the T,W,Th if it was my choice. What I have been told that many people to 3-4 day weekends in Cali(wouldn't that be nice.) Just to avoid that possibility.

thanks! i'm definitely going to try to persuade everyone to do a T,W, TH trip. looks like we're moving back to cali late winter or early spring next year, so i'm just really looking forward to the fact that it isn't going to take us 2 full days just to get to DLR anymore! now it will only be a mere 7 hour drive, lol.

i wish we were staying onsite so that we could take advantage of 2 MM, but we just can't justify spending that much on a room we'll hardly even see. so, looks like just one MM for us.

speaking of hotels....doing a T,W,TH will cut down on hotel expenses too (no weekend rates). bonus!
