So I'm sitting here crying like a little baby. With all the hurricane after effects I found myself needing a new home for my "babies" Koda and Booda, my puppies. After loosing our only car to flooding and loosing work, etc we've been forced to try to find a new not so spacious home and since the boys are outside/inside dogs they really need a yard and since housing has been so sparse I've been unable to find a smaller house with a yard so an apartment is our only option at this point, not fit for two big dogs. So I looked for a family who would love them just like we do and I think I found a wonderful one. They are two very kind parents and they have three very active young sons who just adore our dgos. She stays at home/home schools so I know someone will be with them most of the time. Even though with all the positives I still feel so sad....
I know the boys are better off now, but even so.
Anyone else had to make this hard choice and how long does it take to not feel so upset?
Sounds like a truly wonderful situation for your dogs! At least you know they'll get lots of love and attention. I'm sure it must be so hard for you, but you did the best thing for them. I can't imagine all you're dealing with. I gave away my two horses a year after we were married and then bought a house. I, too, cried like a baby after we dropped them off.
