Whew! I was nervous listening to Kevin's Brown Derby review. I LOVE  the Brown Derby, I'd have to say it's my favorite place to eat at WDW, I was so worried it wasn't going to be a good review. I was afraid the quality had gone, the menu even more dumbed down, service declined, but no, it got a stellar review! :cool1:
Go B.D.! :cheer2:

As for the GASP!!!!!

NO GRAPEFRUIT CAKE!?!?!?! :scared1:

How can you go to The Brown Derby and not have the Grapefruit Cake???
I agree it sounds weird and I'm not even a big grapefruit fan, but the cake at the Brown Derby is deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious. :cloud9:

I'm happy just to hear there is a Kevin review on the podcast. I think he should be forced to eat at Disney once a week for our enjoyment. :yay:

I dont even like the thought of other people eating grapefruit.

I'll try almost anything.

I detest grapefruit.

Little known fact (you may have discussed on the pod cast, it hadn't downloaded for me the last time I checked). Grapefruits are contraindicated for some medications. I know this because about 5 years ago we took my Mom to Disney. she was very sick for the first 3 days of our trip. we found out later that she was not supposed to eat grapefruits with one of the drugs she was taking and she had grapefruit juice the day she left. So we learned the hard way. :goodvibesSince then I always read the papers that come with my medications, just to be sure I know all about the medication I am taking. :thumbsup2 Penny

Brown Derby is a perfect restaurant for adults...unfortunately it is wasted on my kids. That was the only restaurant where they got antsy. (years ago)

When we dined there I tried the grapefruit cake. Highly overrated. I don't get the appeal of it but glad many enjoy it.

Blasphemy! :rotfl:

Brown Derby Grapefruit Cake is sort of like Mickey bars and Dole Whips to me.
Totally Disney, can't wait to have it when I get there.

You know what? I don't think I've even tried a grapefruit! I have heard they are very sour though right?

I wasn't allowed to eat them with meds I was on, ever since it kind of put me off trying!

Not the Ruby Red ones....they're wonderful. Not too sour at all.

I get them from a local grower and they are amazingly good.

Yeah! I was so glad it got a good review too- my husband and I love it

Ugh, everything Kevin read off the menu was mouthwatering. I am desperate for a trip.

I was nervous to hear that Kevin was reviewing the Brown Durby. It is my FAVORITE of all places to eat on property. I haven't heard the review yet but it sounds like they passed! I look forward to listening. Thanks Kevin!

The one and only time I ate at BD, I had to order off the kiddie menu. Wasn't one thing I wanted. I have a juvenile palate. I own that.

But I'll say that with the exception of Restaurant Marrakesh, I think Kevin is spot-on with his reviews. He got RM wrong, but everyone can make a mistake. I still don't understand how someone could NOT like beef brewat rolls. Beyond me.

I agree with Kevin that the food is great. However, on our trip in January the service was horrible. The manager made it right which is all I can ask.

I just ate the yummies, sweetest, jusiest Texas Sweet grapefruit! Yum!

But I will not share any with Kevin.

I will, however, be happy to share bagels, lox and cream cheese with Kevin.

I remember my one and only trip the Brown Derby as nothing but fantastic. At that time, my mom got the grapefruit cake - I tried a bite and thought the same as Kathy - dry and overall overrated. I'm not a fan of grapefruit but in this case, I just thought it was like a citrus cake.

NOW - I did have creme brulee that same dinner and that is where I discovered my absolute LOVE of creme brulee!! I think it was double vanilla bean at the time? SO amazingly good!
