Where's your worst resort stay...

Once got a refund after the fact from a Hilton in San Jose, and can call upon those skills at a moments notice if needed.

What, specifically, are those skills you refer to? Being polite, but firm? Being just a bit pushier than that?

Please, do elaborate...

Thanks!

This was 20 years ago during a Dr. Who convention (where I also met my wife).
As I recall, they hadn't cleaned our room, we called and ask that they do so, and upon return they had merely left new towels.

So I wrote a letter.

The response was absurd. Whoever wrote it was complaining to ME about how some people were having too many in their room, stuff like that. I replied point by point to everything they said, most of which had nothing to do with me, and the next response I got was a check.

I've been called "poison pen" before, but don't recall being particularly nasty in this case. But I was very clear with them, and didn't show much sympathy for their excuses.

Cheers.

I've just never experienced a terrible stay at WDW. Perhaps if I DID, I would follow the proper process and complain accordingly. Yet, everything always seems to run smoothly. Perhaps I'm just easy to please, or expect nothing (and therefore am always surprised!). :wizard: I feel deeply for those whom have posted such horrendous accounts of nightmarish stays at Disney resorts. I hope they have received remuneration (to their satisfaction) where deserved. I do not overlook problems, but tend to "go with the flow" and avoid permitting any "minor" glitches to ruin my experience. Some things in life are bound to happen, we're all only human. I'm not expecting anyone else to share my disposition. But, everyone's entitled to their opinion. And, that is my .02 for this topic! :confused3

Hey, dreamflight...can I pack myself up in your luggage :teeth:?

Agnes... You'll have to hurry over here, as my first SUMMER trip begins this SATURDAY aboard the DISNEY MAGIC!! 7~nights of FUN!! You still have time, as I have not even begun to pack *(and will NOT do so until Friday eve). Of course, you can always opt for the next one...the couple months in WDW/DVB/PBH...etc., or even the three weeks in London/England in October!! :flower:  :cloud9: I LOVE adventure and travel! :wizard:

So far so good for us. Then again, one time our room did not get cleaned but we didn't really sweat it (we had been there for a couple of days so at least it was our mess - I agree that a new room is in order if you check into a messy room). We simply called for fresh towels - which they brought immediately.

If I had to choose a "least desireable" stay it would be our very first family trip to WDW when we did a split stay by going from a deluxe to a mod - HUGE MISTAKE! Definitely should have went from a mod to deluxe or just stayed at the deluxe - but we wanted to compare to see if the deluxe was really worth it. Even then, CBR was fine (check in was a bit longer but no big deal, etc.), it was more the behavior of some of the pool patrons - one example, we had planned to swim the afternoon of check-in due to the resort switch but the main pool was closed down for the rest of the day b/c someone left a "baby ruth" in it. Again, no big deal, we just went to DTD instead. CBR was fine, but we are definitely deluxe "snobs" now.

I have some sympathy for taxi mom's troubles - and I love your sig picture b/c it looks like your kids found some magic later in the trip - especially the cute youngest one.

I also feel for Disney b/c unfortunately there are a lot of people nowadays who are always looking for a free ride. I have witnessed it several times - particularly at restaurants. One time we were eating at Rainforest Cafe (in Houston not Orlando) and a family complained b/c the service was too slow and that they were paying "big bucks" to eat there, etc. I guess they are used to eating fast food. Well, they were seated about the same time we were and their service was not too slow. Probably took them 20-30 minutes to get their meal (there were 7 of them). Besides, for those of you who have not eaten at RFC, it is supposed to be a dining experience. If the food had gotten there too quickly they probably would have claimed that they paid "big bucks" to enjoy the ambience and that the waiter made them feel rushed. Anyway, I was hoping the manager would not let them get away with their scheme - as some patrons are just not worth having - but he finally relented and comped their entire meal. I have no doubt that at least 50% of the complaints Disney receives are from these type of people.

Pop Century. Nothing "happened" so I didn't have anything to complain about. We did not enjoy this resort because it's too noisy and it felt cramped and crowded. We were not able to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

CBR for us too! We were way out in the back somewhere....a looooooooong walk to Main Bldg & main pool. Out of a 5 night stay only twice did Mousekeeping show up. The grounds were filithy. The busses were unbearable, had avg. wait of 1 hour every day/night to get to parks.....etc. We had not so much of a bug problem, more of a FROG problem...they were everywhere. Freaked the kids out a bit....(me too....shhhhhh!)

This was 4 years ago!

Anyhow, I emailed Disney a letter listing all the problems. I really wasn't looking for any compensation, more so just to let them know what happened. However, yes they called me and offered compensation. I was very suprised and satisfied. It was very nice of them to do so.

If I am unsatisfied or very satisfied with any type of service or product I purchased I do write letters to the companies involved. (it's my thing!). Disney is one of the rare few companies whomever nicely responded.
