Where's the love for Boardwalk?

We just scheduled a trip for the end of March in a Deluxe room at BW. As always, I came to the DIS for some research. I was surprised to find the FAQ for Boardwalk is still only the one started in 2002! :confused3 Alot of the information on the first page HAS to be outdated. Most of the other resorts are on their 4th or 5th or more incarnation of a FAQ thread (ie Poly, POP, AKL). Also, there are very few other threads about Boardwalk. Doesn't anyone stay here? Is there a reason we should avoid it? (Although we won't. It was either this or the Junior Suite at Wilderness - which wasn't available!)

We've done 44 trips to WDW, and the Boardwalk has never interested us....location, demeanor, pool, don't rightly know. We've breezed thru it a couple of times but it lacks something....

In that area, Y&B seems to pique our interest more....sone stays at both and enjoyed them.....can't put a finger on it but if we picked that location again, for easy access to EPCOT, it still would be the Y&B.

Hope your stay is everything you hope for....not condemning the Boardwalk, just no physical interest...........

I can tell you I fall in love with the BW more and more every year.

I can only afford to stay at a mod resort, so I can go every year.

My plan for when I retire is to stay two weeks at the BW.

It has so many wonderful amentities, as far as location. And Kouzzina's is one of favorites restaurants now, next to Sanaa.

Love BW. Seems more mature than some other resorts. Maybe more business like. Also doesn't lay everything at your fingertips, no food court ie, no restaurants in lobby, you need to care for yourself. Best lounge for drink before dinner because just about no one knows it is there. Quiet.

We stayed at the BW last summer and really enjoyed it-- We liked everything about it-- the CM's, pools, atmosphere, location, etc. We thought it was a very nice resort. Enjoy your trip!

BW is a small hotel by Disney standards. And a lot of the reviews you'll see for BW, come on the DVC boards since it has the villas as well.

You can't expect a resort the size of BW to have the amount of reviews that some of the really big resorts have.

I also think big resorts (POR, CBR, CSR, OKW and SSR) get a ton of traffic on their FAQ threads regarding location. People worry and stress over the location in those resorts which generates a lot of traffic on the threads.

That's my non scientific hypothesis!

I think the BWI is one of Disney's best kept secrets! We are leaving Friday morning for our second stay there, my kids are not interested in staying any where else! We love the deluxe room and for my family of 6 it is one of our few options other than a villa. The room looks out onto the Boardwalk and the Concierge lounge is great. I love the excitement of the boardwalk at night and found the Y&B club side of the lake to be too quiet.

You will LOVE it!

Because of the Inn and Villas, there are actually a few BW FAQ threads running around. Stayed there in Nov, and loved it enough to buy a resale DVC with BWV as our home. Great place. Definitely try Flying Fish, relatively expensive but well worth it.

Of all the DVC resorts, BW is the one that has generated almost no interest from my friends and I in staying there...but I have a friend who swears by it.... last summer I upgraded my stay to be at BC villas...so more often than not I wandered over to BW to check out the entertainment, the hotel and see if I could pinpoint what turned me off of the place.

After spending parts of every day there, I honestly could not say why I have no interest in the resort. But to be fair, my next trip I will most likely try it out and see what it feels to be immersed there. I saw it is almost the same points for a studio as OKW which is my benchmark for short trips and cheap points!

My guess is that people look at the stores, with the rooms over the boardwalk and think it will be too noisy...and don't look much past that. I would be concerned about those rooms too if I had young children who were sticking to early bed times...other than that - really can't see why BW doesn't get the same feelings as other resorts.

I love the boardwalk, especially in the evening. One time I was on a business trip to Orlando and have 1 evening to spend at WDW. My choice was to go to Epcot, see Illuminations, then walk around the boardwalk. I just love the atmosphere.

Our very 1st stay at the Boardwalk Inn was this past August in a Deluxe Room and it was amazing. The check-in experience was the best we ever had at any WDW Resort, the Club Level lounge was great, the Club Level Cast Members were great and all the reports of them being amazing was 100% true. Plus it's great knowing the Deluxe Room comes with a view of the Boardwalk. During our 2nd stay at the Boardwalk Inn which was this past December we tried getting the Deluxe Room and it was sold out, so we took their Standard Club Level Room. However for our 3rd stay there which will be this coming August, we were able to get the Deluxe Room. Finally just so know their Deluxe Rooms are located on the 3rd floor and 4th floor. Now should you stay on the 3rd floor they are located very close to the stairs which you can walk up to the lounge on the 4th floor. Plus the balconies on the 3rd floor rooms are bigger then the rooms on the 4th floor. However if being close to the lounge is important request a room on the 4th floor.

We love the Boardwalk. The location is fabulous, the rooms are lovely, and the staff is wonderful. It's my favorite resort.

I have a TON of random knowledge about BW- the theming, the rooms, the cast... PM me if you have any specific questions :goodvibes

I stayed there the first week of December solo.

Loved the location, the bar, the decor. The pool area looked nice but it was too cold for me to hop in. I forgot to mention the Boardwalk area itself was nice to walk around. There was only 1 entertainer out at a time when I was there but it was a cold, quiet few days on the Boardwalk so that might have been why.

I didn't like no food court for a quick breakfast of Mickey waffles/bacon in the morning. I knew that it wasn't available and thought the Boardwalk Bakery would be fine but I didn't like the warm options for food at the Bakery.

I can't say I'll never go back but it wouldn't be my first choice for an Epcot area resort.

Back in '03, we finally got around to visiting this area. I had been to WDW several times at this point, but had never been to this area. Well, my dh, dd and I ambled around. On the boat back to Epcot, he said to me....'Boardwalk is the only DVC resort I would even consider buying at.'' Well....3 months later we owned our first contract there..
We love it there. I have had villas overlooking the Village Green as well as the boardwalk itself. I never had an issue with noise. Just close the door and pull the curtains closed.
I love being able to walk to both Epcot and DHS, or take the boat. I love having the ability to eat at BW, YC/BC or the S/D...many options. I do miss a food court type area though. It is the one thing that would make BW perfect for me.
Yes, it is a more 'grown-up' resort...almost as formal as the GF. But there is something playful about it at the same time.

I LOVE Boardwalk!!! I've stayed at all the deluxes, and Boardwalk is my absolute favorite (though Poly is a close second).

I love the theming, the gorgeous rooms, the location location location, the view, the running opportunities, the way the colors change on the water and resorts at night, the activities on the boardwalk, sitting on the balcony or the boardwalk and people watching... Boardwalk is wonderful!

Although it personally holds no appeal to us, I have seen numerous reviews of the resort and trip reports about stays there. Did you trying doing a search?

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We loved the Villas and the Inn, have stayed there several times.

We love the Boardwalk. We are going in December to stay in a 2 bedroom Villa. We have already stayed in a studio and a one bedroom villa. We loved it more each trip. This is now my favorite place to stay. The theming, the location the atmosphere, the view, the rooms. We love it all.
