Where's the firewood?

I can't find any down here. FW no longer sells it. I'm used to living in the woods where everybody within a few miles of a campground is selling bundles of wood at the end of their driveway. I haven't seen any at the stores though I haven't looked to hard. Thanks!

Publix usually has the small bundles 4sale

Consider Home Depot and Lowes . We like chunks of hardwood for use in a BBQ smoker as bags make for very easy storeage and small sized pieces make it simple to control how long my fire burns

I miss the days (at home anyway) where we camped, the campground was in the Woods, and you could walk into the woods and bring out fallen tree branches and the sort to have a fire (Not allowed to damage live trees.)

Now campgrounds are less in the "woods" and more in the fields with a few smattering of trees. Plus with rules of transporting firewood from outside the area, as well as the various "Fire Pit" rules (although I understand the reasons for both of these) it makes it so it's no longer enjoyable to have a nice campfire.

I agree with this 100%

I have seriously started looking into the portable gas firepits as a lot of the places I go don't allow outside firewood, but they also either don't sell any wood or it's in bundles that burn up in about 30 minutes and you gotta go back for more.

This is still the way it's done in the Smoky Mtns. (National campground inside the park). They 'do' sell wood (basically kindling that lasts no time), but there's plenty of woods to get downed limbs, etc. We 'used' to take our firewood from home for there, but no more. Can have all the nice fires you want - the small pits just don't get it for us. Elkmont is about the only place we do fires.

Or it's outrageously priced. <sigh>

I miss the older days. (and I am not really that old... well as long as you don't ask my kids!)

No go at publix, Winn Dixie, Walmart, and walgreens

I would expect it to be sold mostly in the winter months - at least around here it is - not much demand at the stores for firewood in the middle of summer! :)
(with exceptions in touristy places near camping areas)

Just found it at the publix in Windemere! Thanks for your help. Didn't know about that publix til our friends checked in and said they drove by it. So much easier than dealing with the Vineland rt 4 interchange area!
