OK, 10 days now to go and I just don't have the excitement like I normally do. Thsi will be my first official WDW trip as a DVc member. I shoudl be excited! Instead, I'm too busy with Christmas and the kids and all the stuff that goes with thsi season to even give our trip a second thought. I'm sure I'll eb packing the night before we leave. I just ahve too much going on! I haven't even been able to coem read my fav board! Maybe going this time of year is going to be too hard? Has anyoen else ever felt thsi way about trips to WDW at thsi time of year?

On another note, my Disney Visa account number was stolen and they charded it up over my limit. But, I did get my rewards card in time for our trip.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Visa card being stolen. :(

As for this time of year, it is indeed a hectic time. I guess the key to enjoying the trip is to try to take it easy once you're at WDW... stop and admire all the decorations, and try to be relaxed during the vacation itself.

Of course, if you're still going to be really busy on vacation getting things prepared, then you might not find this to be a very enjoyable vacation after all....or certainly not a relaxing one!

I'm sure that once you are settled in, you will find the "Disney magic" that helped you make your decision in the first place.

I hope your trip is a great one. :)

Shan,

I am also sorry about you disney Visa!!!!!!! Is there anything they can do?

I'm sure you will have a great xmas trip!!!!

Was the thief at least courteous enough to shop at the Disney Store to get you those triple reward points??? :)

We love going right after Thanksgiving , but it puts us way behind schedule putting up a tree, decorations, lights, etc. Every year we say we're going to have all that stuff done before we leave but so far that hasn't happened.

When we left for our last trip (Thanksgiving week) my son got sick. HIs throat started hurting as we were leaving and he barfed in the van in Tennessee. I was a literal wreck by the time we reached Orlando. The first night I was cranky, but Ian was feeling better and I started to relax. We were at Riverside and it was so beautiful, and the kids had so much fun in the pool. By the next morning, when we moved over to OKW, I really hit my stride. It was warm and sunny and the birds were singing and the flowers were blooming -- I couldn't RESIST! So don't fret. I learned that "any time is a good time for a WDW trip" and even if you are too stressed to be psyched, that'll change once you get there!

My daughter later got the same sore throat, and it interfered some with our plans. But I tried to take it in stride, and overall, this was one of our best trips ever. What better time to go than when you are so fussy that you NEED a vacation?

HAVE FUN! :)::MickeyMo

OK, that got a laugh out of me.

It started after I ate at a restaurant. From there the charges started. Several of the bogus charges were also at the same restaurant days afterwards. I'm sure the thief's friends had a great meal on us. Visa is sending us an affidated (spell?) and cancelled our numbers and are sending us new cards. I'm hoping my reward card will work once I get at WDW, they told me it would, but I'm nervous. Plus, I'm gonna have to make sure Visa doesn't cahrge us for going over the limit.

I have got all my Christmas errands done, but we'll get back Christmas eve which is spent with in-laws, then Christmas day with my family. BUSY! (when will I make those casseroles?!?)

But to top it off, my youngest has an early January birthday so I ahve to send out invites while we're gone. Next week I'll be running around getting all the birthday stuff done.

I hope Wdw will make me relax. The day before we leave I'll be in charge of the Kindergarten winter party. Mayeb I need thsi trip?!?

First of all remember that this is always a busy and stressfull time so try and get your "stuff" done and then get mentally excited for the trip. We went many times during the holidays and I know excatly what you mean. There really isn't much down time during this time of the year, so time doesn't allow you to get excited. But, trust me, it will happen once you have a clear head ----- you will have a WONDERFUL time. Just relax when you get there and take in all the magic. :wave2:

I wish we were going soon---we have to wait until April

Have a Magical Vacation :) ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I love going to WDW in early December..and I hate going to WDW in early December.
WDW is so wonderful this time of year, I so love CP and MVMCP, plus all the decorations, it's all so beautiful.
The problem is I have so much to do at home especially with 2 little ones that even when I went away for 4 days last year, it threw me off...but it's worth it, you will have a spectacular time!
I wish time could just stop while I was down there. LOL

I kinda know the feeling.

I am flying down tomorrow after work for a long weekend with DH and friends at the BCVs. I have been so busy getting the house here ready for Christmas, the cards sent, the shopping etc AND teaching full time.

I am taking 2 Personal Busines Days and had to work double hard to get my classes, materials and lesson plans ready for my sub teacher.

I just haven't had time to get really geeked about this trip. I am sure that once I get on the plane tomorrow night and walk into my BCVs "home" all will be right with the world

I wonder if the people who have your Visa, also have my American Express card:confused: I'm just glad they haven't used it--yet.

This is a horrendous time of year for me also. In my case, it's my job and a boss who is torturing me--it's the happiest I have seen her in years:mad: But I know that everything will be OK once I get there. It will happen for you too. Being there will cause you to unwind, and then the wonder of WDW at Christmas just creeps into your soul, and heals all the horrible stuff that you are trying to get thru now. It just happens that way, and after a couple of days you will find that you are enjoying yourself.

Try taking the invitations for your kid's party with you to Florida, and a list of addresses, and fill those out when you are sitting at the pool. You will feel so much better doing it down there!

Hey, if you've got your Christmas cards done, how about doing mine?;) I would rather spend my time here, so my cards just aren't getting done, and I leave in 12 days.

I know exactly what you mean!! We leave this coming Sunday, ( dec15) and I certainly haven't done my usual planning and obsessive packing. We are returning late on the 18, I have to work 12 hours on the 19 and then I have 50 people coming to dinner on the 20!! So I am trying to get everything Christmas done before we go which leaves no time to plan for WDW!! I'm sure once we get there , we will be fine. But I am kind of doing a " go with the flow" kind of trip this time. Since it is so short of a trip . ONly 2 ps booked so far and I am not even obsessing about the clothes we are bringing this time. ( which is unusual for me!) But it is hard this time of year , especially with 2 little ones at home!! But guess what....not a bad problem to have!!

Have a great trip!!

I predict you'll feel the magic once you get there and relax! Just think how rejuvinated you will be when you return for Christmas and everything is done!

I'm always a little impressed with people who can travel around the holidays. Its such a busy, stressful time, and I never have enough days. And its not like the days before travel aren't busy for us as well.

Next year, my family is planning an over Christmas family reunion trip to Mexico. I'm already not looking forward to it.

I just wanted to wish you a nice relaxing trip ( I will be there too :teeth: )

Also good luck with your credit card. I had to file a complaint with my disney visa and I thought they handled it wonderfully (granted it was only one charge).

We just got back from VWL 7 day trip. We know exactly where your coming from. We went commando Christmas shopping Sat 2 weeks ago and left out that following Tues. for our trip. We were packing the night before for us and 2 kids.
Get your shopping done so you can relax and not have to think about it on vacation. DVC will help you to relax if you allow it too. And remember, dont try to do it all, you will be going back with DVC in years to come.

Most of all, Have Fun!!;)

Yikes, what a stressful mess. I would have thrown out the merry *&%$#@ what? long before now, let alone the Disney spirit. Hope things get better for you, if not leave your worries home and don't take them on vacation. They will look a whole lot different to you when you return. Most importantly, enjoy your family.

see, now, when we go to Disney at christmas, that's all we do. There's no tree at home, no decorating, no shopping before hand. We do our christmas gift buying at disney, or at least in Florida and mail it all out. I used to tell the kids (when they believed) that Santa would find them there. Even when we go in January (as we are wont to do, since I'm a marathoner), we use the trip as everyone's present.

works for me!!!

(and 29 days to go, even if I can't get my countdown to work)
