Where you ever given a Monrail Co-Pilot License?

I knew about this ahead of time, so when my son rode up front for the first time, I asked for one. The conductor didnt have any, but tracked one down for us. Weve never gotten one since. Same for the train-we just asked one of the conductors for one and got it too. They look great in our son's scrapbook!

Interesting, we went in August 2004, and while our driver was kind, nothing special, and when I asked him about the license, he said they no longer do that. Oh, ok. Not a problem, but then I've seen posts here where they do, so either do it, or dont. Not a problem, if people are taking advantage, ew, if Disney thinks it takes too much time, ok, not a problem, but dont lie to me - its all I'm asking. :confused3

We didn't (23/24 at the time) get one.. but the two younger boys who rode with us did, I think... I guess we were just too old for one :rolleyes2

We have ridden up front twice and received licenses both times. For all you that have ridden up front I have a question. The driver made me really scared this last trip. He looked like he was nodding out. At first I thought he was just looking down and when I poked my daughter she said what and he jumped up with a start. This happened a few times. Did anyone else ever encounter this. The trip was in Dec 2004 and this is the first time I've had the nerve to mention it. Let me know what you thnk, Am I just nuts? Gina

As a matter of fact, any time a younger person rides in the front, I believe they get one of these co-piolet lisences. I have gotten a couple over the many years I have visited WDW. It's a lot of fun to ride in the front of the Monorail!

We rode up front twice on our May 2004 trip and never received a co-pilots license (the kids were 13, 10, and turning 5). I didn't ask, though. It was a great experience in itself, though neither pilot was particularly friendly. I got the feeling that they don't really like people up there.

We were there Aug. 12, 2004 and rode the "express monorail". We each got one as there was a nice size stack at the operator's controls. Maybe it depends when you go....busy time vs. middle of the day or something like that??

October 2003 we rode up fron a couple of times..it was pretty quiet no one else was waiting so I didn't feel guilty about going on it a second time. Both times we were offered co-pilot licences (my DH and me declined them the second time, but my DS wanted his) 2004 it seemed that there was always somone waiting to ride up front, so we only got the chance once. The driver was friendly (pretty funny actually) and he gave us licences, this was October 2004, he had a stack of them in a holder on the wall on the right side of him...this was on the Epcot branch.

In Dec. 2002, DH, his father and I rode in the front and all received licenses. Mine is still in my wallet! In Dec. 2003, DS, DDIL and DGD rode in the front. DGD got one (she was 3 1/2 at the time), but her parents didn't. On the very next monorail ride, SIL, her husband and two kids rode in the front and each got one. Of course, DS still has one...from a trip sometime in the early 80's!

During our trip last month the kiddies were fortunate enough to ride with the pilot 3 different times; 2 of rides they received their pilot license for. This was a great highlight for them.

I traveled with my sister and two cousins, all of us with our children. so who rode in the front changed each time, but DD5 was lucky as the youngest (not counting my 3 month old nephew) and got to ride it all three times. lucky girl...

I got one myself, 3 years ago, they didn't have any, so Mike (Monorail Blue I think it was, don't have my stuff in front of me) offered to mail one to me, but ended up finding a couple, that was so sweet, and since it was my bday, he wrote happy bday on it to me! I can't wait till my next trip in 3 years!!!

My DGF and I rode upfront in January but were not given a license (of course we are 20 y o) But I know that Conductor was mad because some guy jumped the line and slipped in with us right before the door was shut. So i decided not to ask

As for the age thing, I'd just turned 34,and I got one, so it's probably true what you said about the conductor being mad, I would be too! I'm sure you would've gotten one if that hadn't happened!!

sometimes the pilots are just SOOOO grumpy.. dont talk to you, are monosolabic in their answers to questions... almost like its an inconvenience to have people in his little pod!

The women pilots have always been fine, but some of the men.. you wanna shout at that.. "THIS IS DISNEY! ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!"

No DD was not given one. Plus the driver never even spoke to us. It was very strange.

My boys have been up front a few times and have never received anything.

We have a lot of them. But did not get any the first few times we rode in the front.

My whole group got one in 1995 when we were there for my DD's 5th birthday. I still carry it around! We also rode last July when we were there and the pilot (a woman) didn't say 2 words to us, and no licenses.

We got them on our last trip. It was the first time DH had ever ridden up there and was surprised that you could ride up there. Then the driver gave us all, Myself, DH & DD(17) a copilots license. That really surprised DH.

The driver was very nice and when the monorail started having problems, explained some of what was going on. When we all had to exit the monorail after backing up to TTC, she apologized to us. But we told her that it was kind of neat to see what was going on and that she took the time to explain things to us.

DH wants to try it again some time.

No but they did give me a Monorail Pilot License... Guess I got bumped to the special people section ;)

(okay okay I got one of the co-pilots license too but it *was* after I got the real thing.. I also have a future Coaster rider and a future twilight zone traveler certificates too... )
