Hi!

I'm planning my 30th birthday (which will be August 09), and will love to have that private dinner with my soon-to-be huby. We'll be 8 months by that date too. Where is it? Is it worth it?:confused3

Thanks for the help.

Greetings! We have two things in common - I just celebrated my 30th birthday not too long ago and I'm from ATL also. Small world, lol.

I believe you are referring to the Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's (in the Grand Floridian). And yes, if an amazing fine dining experience is what you want, then yes, it is soooo worth it. There is only one Chef's Table per night (some nights it is not offered at all) and you must call six months in advance as soon as the phone lines open (7 am eastern). Note that you press a different number in the automated system for booking V&As than for regular ADRs. Also make sure you request the Chef's Table. This is a once in a lifetime experience (or if you are lucky, more than once). So definately do it if you can get the ADR.

Also, the Chef's Table menu is a tasting menu, a sampling of most of what is on offer at V&As that night (with some extras thrown in). Someone will ask you at the beginning of the meal if there is anything you don't like, can't eat etc. Obviously, it adds to the experience if you are willing to try anything, but be sure to let them know if there is something that you can't/ won't do. The same is true with the wine pairing - if you do the wine pairing, you don't have to - let the somilier know what types of wines you prefer.

I hope this helps. Good luck getting the ressie - and enjoy!!! :thumbsup2

Oh and let the CM you speak to when booking the ADR know you are celebrating your birthday and 8 month aniversary. They may do something special for you at the restaurant (odds are they will).

Small World Indeed! That's what I love of being in these forums!

Thanks you so much for the info. It surely helps. Sound good for a big celebration. Let see if I can get the ADR!!!

I 2nd the recommendation for V&A's. I have that Chef's table on my "someday" list! I've only heard fantastic things about that experience.

Also (and I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong) I think Citricos which is right next to V&A's in the GF also offers a Chef's table that you can reserve.

If you are considering the dining plan, be aware that you can't use it for these dinners. Victoria & Albert's does not accept the Disney dining plan at all - only the premium and platinum plans. Citricos has a "Chef's Domain" but there is a minimum purchase amount of $650 excluding tax and gratuity. Citricos will accept the dining plan for regular reservations, but not for Chef's Domain.

Just curious, how much is the chef's table at Victoria and Albert's?

Dinner is $165 per person plus tax and gratuity; the wine pairings are an additional $70 per person.

Worth every penny! :thumbsup2

I did the Chef's Table at V&A's for this past b-day (8th anniversary of my 30th b-day!). It was simply amazing; they truly know how to make you feel like a celebrity. I believe the price was around the $175.00 a person, and add another $75.00 a person if you want the wine pairing (for our party of 4 with one having the wine pairing, our bill was $1,000.00 including gratuity). Be prepared if you do try the pairing, I had to stop after course #5, in a 10 course dinner.
We had Chef Amy as our chef for the night, she was amazing. With each main course she would come and explain to us what we were served, how it was prepared, and how the flavors pair. On courses between the main courses, our “Victoria” or “Albert”(waiter and waitress) would present and explain the dishes.
They do ask if you have allergies or if you have other dietary needs, or dislikes. I was hesitant on trying the froie gras (duck liver), but I am so glad I did. I tried everything that the chef prepared and was not disappointed one bit (the best was the $150.00 a pound Kobe’ beef). At the end of the meal they presented us with a goodie bag to go, and the ladies at the table are presented a long stem rose. Each of us was also presented with a personalized menu of what you were served that evening.
All in all, if you are wanting a memorable night for a memorable b-day , I would defiantly make it a priority to make sure to call on the 180th day out first thing in the morning to get my reservation in!

Thank you all for the responses. It's been very useful!
Now, I need to start planning and saving!

1) To answer the question, No.
2) Most "in front of chef" requests mean just that.
3) The Chef's Table at V&A is more like a little room.
. . . pony wall
. . . stiles wall-to-ceiling
. . . doorway
. . . seems walled-off
4) It used to be a table near the prep area, with no separation from cooking.
5) Nowhere else in WDW are you near the chef or cooking.

NOTE: Your reference can be compared to some hotels in PR, where you are literally in a corner of the kitchen and right in front of the chef(s). This is not the way it is done any longer at V&A.

Thanks for the help.

You could also arrange for private dining. I did this for hubby's 50th. It went pretty good. There were a few snags which will make me be over the top of them next time more than I was, overall a good experience. The chef does speak with you between every course, but you do not watch him cook.

I've done the chef's table before and after the "walling off" into the little room. You can still view a lot of the prep and there is still extensive interaction with the chef(s). To be honest, I think I prefer the little room. You still see a lot and can ask lots of questions, but you also feel like you can have a private conversation with those in your party too. Note that the more questions you ask the more interaction you will have, IMO. If there is something they are doing in the kitchen you want to find out more about, ask one of the servers and someone will come in and talk to you. And you do get to speak with the head chef (at least we did) before, during or after the meal (or both). It is a fabulous experience and I hope to some day do it again.
