where would you take 9 adults and 2 kids for a fun, laid back, family style or buffet

Can't believe no one has suggested Whispering Canyon Cafe. Casual and lots of fun but no characters. The skillet meals are family style and beyond delicious. It is one of our favorite stops. You could do breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Trails End is the most laid back buffet with no characters and economical (by Disney standards) and Cape May is my favorite choice.

Have you considered the Biergarten? Just last week we had a lunch there with a party of 12, all seated at one table, and it was a BLAST. (Granted, we were all in a pretty good mood, having just finished running half-marathon, marathon, and in one case BOTH of those, so we might have had fun anywhere.)

It reminded me of the Polish weddings I used to go to as a kid. Big buffet with lots of great food, music, dancing, laughing and big steins of beer. Everybody from the 8 year-olds to the grandparents had a wonderful time.

I also want to throw in my two cents on breakfasts. I think they're a waste of money and we don't do them. There's only so much you can do to make breakfast foods unique and interesting, and the food doesn't "stay" with you long, and you're hungry again right away. I prefer to have a quick breakfast in the room (cereal with milk, bananas, granola bars, etc.) and splurge on "real" food at lunch or dinner.

I'm with you on the breakfast!! We ate breakfast once at Ohana, just because we love the food they have, and we ate breakfast at Kona the day we were leaving. Other than that, we usually just grabbed a pastry and coffee. My husband loves the ham and cheese sandwhichs at that one place on Main Street and I get the Danish. The other days we grabbed a coffee and a pastry at that little place before you walk around the World Showcase. I made sure I saved my stomach for lunch and dinner!

If you really want laid back then it is Trails End. We eat there everytime we are in the world. We have camped several times and found it then. You could then take a short bus to the Meadows to see the campfire and movie.

We are getting in on the 17th or 18th so we will be missing you. We will be traveling with our sons and their gf's and meeting up with my sister and her family. We will have all adults except for my one neice who will be 1 month short of her 21st birthday.

Have fun

I agree! We love Whispering Canyon! The boat ride from MK to WL is a great break in the middle of the day for lunch and the food at Whiispering Canyon is delicious!!! We've never had their breakfast, but we will have dinner there on our next trip.

This was going to be my suggestion. Although I like Trail's End Idea too.

If you don't want to pay $40.00 per person for the Biergarten Dinner get a 3:30 lunch and pay a lot less. It is a fun atmosphere.

Cape May Dinner is expensive and good. Even though it may not be a "destination" restaurant it is a short walk from EPCOT so really it plays like an EPCOT restaurant.

Cape May has become our family favorite. We usually travel to WDW w my whole family and this is one of our must do's w/ everyone. Great food and very laid back. We like to make it one of our last meals together so we can talk about our trip over really great food.
