Where would you stay?

lol $500 is usually alot to me but for our first big family vaca and because we have it specifically for that reason, I do not think it is too bad, IF the difference between resort experience is SIGNIFICANT, which it seems to be. But the advice I get is go for the theme that most appeals to me and for the theme/location/price, I am sticking with WL. It feels like a great deal! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I totally agree. I am not one to snub my nose at $500 either!

But, I will say that between your 2 choices the transportation was better at WL. We stayed at POR, and we really did love the resort and it was beautiful - but the bus rides were pretty bad. Not so much that I would never stay there again, but it was noticable having to stop at POFQ all the time on the way back from the parks. Those were the times I just wanted back to my room, and felt like we had to stop 100 times. :crazy2:

I think you're making a good decision sticking with the WL! :cheer2:

Stick with WL. Our first stay was AKL and it is remembered as "the best vacation ever"! ( along with the second stay there) Since then we have stayed as ASMovies and POFQ. Both were great ( really can't think of a BAD Disney stay--its an oxymoron isn't it?) But we still sigh over going back to AKL! My DH and kids love the WDW extras now (bass fishing, Segway tours, etc.) so we give up the deluxe stay for those. And really the bus is just another ride to kids of that age!

AKL is gorgeous. :thumbsup2 We adore it there also!

I'm late to this, but the first resort we stayed at was CBR, loved it then and still do! Actually I really like all of the moderates, with POFQ being last because of, yes, the freaky heads in the food court and the pool slide being the least fun, IMHO!

Since double beds at CBR are out, and kids don't like the looks of POFQ, I think either POR or CSR would be great for your family. If you don't have a preferred room at POR there might be a slightly longer walk to the resort center and pool. At CSR the preferred rooms get you close to the resort center but there can be a slightly longer walk to the feature pool. Its all relative and you can use an internal shuttle if you don't want to walk. Keeping some drinks and snacks in the room helps when everyone is too tired to walk anyplace :) I usually choose where to stay based on some combo of what's available, best price, and what we want to do.

I also love WL, but I wouldn't want just any category room there. Just my preference. Where as at the moderates I've found I'm happy with the standard view.

No resort has perfect quick transportation. WDW is a big place! We've experienced good and bad , but overall transportation is excellent. My DH loves that he can not drive on vacation unless he wants to!

Have a great vacation!

See, even if we do not do deluxe next time, I want us to always look back and think of our very first as the best the same way! I know its impossible to predict, but we really wanted to stay at WL from the beginning, I just kept saying to my DF "well maybe we could stay somewhere else and save for something else" lol but the $ was for WDW in the first place so thats where its staying! ;):goodvibes

I wanted to do preferred POR or CSR as well, because the savings would have been more significant than POFQ anyways. I liked the overall look of CSR but they are booked for when we are there! So is POR preferred/standard... so it kinda feels like everything was pushing us to stay at WL anyways lol but Thank you!! :goodvibes
