Where would you stay with 7 people...

Wow, we usually see the View suite at about $200 a night. And it is a great suite.

And yes, Residence Inn is about a 15 min walk. But we prefer it to DIS. ANd the DIS is still a lot cheaper.

Maybe because you're not 7 people. But the cheapest in early december that fits us all was $399/night. We don't spend much time in the room anyways, our kids no longer nap, so it's for sleeping, otherwise we're in the parks!

Actually, I am usually 6-16 people. I rarely look for a room with fewer than 6. But we do spend more time in the room than you, so we do prefer a nicer room.

The View suite appears to be almost sold out through late Nov and early Dec, (and they only have 3 of them anyway) so that is probably why it is higher. Desert Inn is quite close and it is a deal price wise.

That is probably it. I'll probably make a reservation @ DI &S and then keep an eye out for any specials elsewhere.

Awinangie - My office is located at the south end of the Ballard Bridge!

Yet another vote for Desert Inn & Suites. Haven't stayed anywhere else since we found it.

When you make your reservation, please be sure to note the bathrooms. Some of the suites have two full baths and some have one full and one half. I can't remember which is which. But, keep it in mind when you're making your choice.

You don't have to pay up front for a reservation at DI&S. Yippee!!! If you don't have a car, though, be sure to ask them to take the parking fee off your bill.

Wondering where you must be, as Des Moines is also 30-40 minutes south of us in Ballard. ;)

We like to stay at The Residence Inn on Harbor (next to the Hyatt) they have a full kitchen in the room. We have stayed in a room with two bedrooms and a pull out sofa in the living room. They offer free breakfast everyday and dinner I think m-Thursday for free. They have a pool, ping pong, basketball, fire pit and Nice bBQ for you to use. It is also across from target and near a lot if restraunts.

We stayed there once with my in-laws, but HATED dealing with ART and it's not walkable. :( I have a ressie at DI&S. :)

Me ( chubby 42 year old) a 5 year old and 2 teens walk it everytime. I too dont like to deal with Art and have free parking at dl because if annulal passes but we like to walk it and the italian shaved ice place johnnys is open between the hotel and dl so its a nice stop in the way back. Also taxis are super cheap from to and from dl. It's about a 1.5 mile walk. Hope this helps

Yeah, 1.5 miles after walking the parks all day with 5 children is not going to happen. I know some people are fine with it, but our kids would be whining the whole way. I know at least my then 5yo would want to be carried most of the time afterwards (and she's a gymnast, so no lack of muscles there!). This may work for some, but when I was asking about "walking distance" even a mile is too far.
