Hi,
Thinking of bringing my 75 year old Mom with us on next trip. First, is it even possible for us to have one room. It would be me, dh, mom, ds 6 and ds 3 years old. I'm thinking we will need 2 rooms. So, where would be a good location for a senior citizen? I'd like a hotel that has some atmosphere, in case mom just wants to relax at the hotel sometimes.
Well, what do you think? :flower:

If you really want one room for the 5 of you, possibilities are:
POLY
AKL with delx. bunk bed room
POR with trundle bed for youngest
DVC rent points for a DVC villa

With Grandma and 2 young children, I think you're best bet would be renting points for a 2 bdrm DVC unit . If that's too much $$, you could always do connecting rooms at a value or moderate, although your values don't have much atmosphere for a 75 yr. old, but the kids will love them. I guess much depends on what you want to pay for lodging.

in addition to Poly, the other 2 monorail resorts, CR and GF, also sleep 5 comfortably. if you wouldn't mind sharing a room, and one bathroom, i would say pick GF. i can't imagine your mom not liking it there. she could sit on the balcony and enjoy the view, or sit in the lobby and listen to the musicians...so beautiful! she might also like the afternoon tea. the beach and all the resort grounds are beautiful. i know it is the one resort my grandmother is very anxious to try!! she's never been, but is planning on coming with us in january. can't wait!!!

but, it all depends on whether or not you want to share a room. if you don't want to share, you need 2 rooms somewhere, or do the DVC thing, or a cabin at Ft. Wilderness.

good luck planning!

If Grandma wants to hang out at the hotel, I would go for AKL. Sitting on your balcony watching the animals with a cup of coffee and a good book is a great way to spend the day. There is always something going on in the lobby and you could spend an entire day just walking around the resort looking at the aritfacts. You could get two connecting rooms there which would be nice at night, the kids could go to sleep in one room and the adults could be up talking in the other room.

It wouldn't be a problem with us fitting into one room. Mom sometimes stays with us, since my Father passed away a few monthsa ago and she gets lonely. We're now used to tight quarters. It sounds like deluxe would be the best option. We always like to stay at a different resort, but I agree that AKL would be great for her. I also think she'd love GF. I have to admit that it never appealed to us before, but I could easily see Mom falling in love with that place. She's into the Victorian charm. Thanks for the great ideas! :flower:
