I will be traveling with just my 8 y/o DD , and we were going to stay at AKL because of the various activities they offer there
(sunset games and stories at the firepit , animal viewing, ect)

Now I am going to book a studio or 1br on points tomorrow am, and I am not sure where to stay, what would be best for just a mom and DD trip.

I have stayed at bcv 4 times and love it but no studios avail, and we would like something new, but we really feel at home there.

Bwv has studios, but we have also stayed there very often, and do prefer bcv of the 2 .

Would like to try wvl never stayed there, have ressies for next feb though there. Is it to isolated? are there activities for rainy days? studios are available here.

Would love oky and studios are avail, but we will not have a car and im afraid of being stuck out in the boon docks, otherwise I really wish to stay because the rooms look like the best of all, and the grounds look stunning. There also seems to be alot of activities for kids. I wish there was a way I could be guarenteed a room near the main area.
(i never traveled without DH before:eek:

ssr has no availability.

so, where would you stay and why???

Thanks soo much.

Do OKW, you'll find it very relaxing... and the studios are big there. It is somewhat out of the way, but not at the end of the earth. Besides, you can't go wrong anywhere in WDW. Enjoy your trip.

One nice thing about VWL is that you can take the boat over to either the Contemporary or Fort Wilderness and enjoy all the activities there as well. They also have some fun activies like a hidden Mickey tour. It's really convenient to get to the Hoop de Doo review or Chef Mickey's and we also catch the monorail and the Contemporary to get to O'hanas and the to Grand Floridian. I'm sure no matter where you stay you'll have a great time!:Pinkbounc

I wouldn't be afraid to try OKW. List "close to HH" as a request on your reservation. Worst case, if you are far away, you can always use the theme park busses to get around. All of them stop right at the Hospitality House before they depart the resort, so just jump on the first bus you see and you'll be there in no time.

I would stay at VWL. Sounds like you want to be sure to be close to the action and being there is the only way you can ensure that.

I guess the question would be - if you stayed at OKW and ended up in the furthest unit from the Main Pool and where the activities are - would you be unhappy? If you had to walk a long way or try to hop bus up to the HH, would that frustrate you? If the answer is yes - then I would say stick with VWL. The walk from the villas there to the main pool and the lodge won't be as long as the walking at OKW.

Also - it's easy to get a bus to the HH - I think during the day they all stop there for the last stop. But, you have to walk to the Bus Stop first, that could be a distance of several buildings. And then getting from the HH back to the unit is another story - I think you have to walk - all the HH buses are headed to parks and DTD.

That's the way the buses have been everytime I've stayed there- I'm sure if it's different sometimes - someone else will chime in and add the info.

I agree with mom2alix and would stay at the VWL. I am sure that you will have a great time with any resort that you choose. Hey, you are going to WDW!

Do the VWL. It's such a short boat ride to the MK. What better place for a mom and DD?

We stay at the VWL when we do a MK trip. It is a beautiful resort that everyone should experience.

Unless you're going on Presidents' weekend (if anyone celebrates that anymore), it seems like OKW should have enough availability to make availability near HH likely.

There's no perfect choice. I think you should go with your gut instinct.

Thanks to everybody for being so kind and helpful.

I have a few hours to go until Ms opens , still pondering:teleport:

I'd recommend VWL for this one, too. In addition to what the others have already posted, you'll have all the activities of Ft Wilderness a boat ride away (or a pleasant walk through the woods) - petting zoo, hayrides, campfires, horseback riding (if your DD is old enough), bicycle & watercraft rentals, etc.

You will also be able to watch the Electrical Water Pagenat from the WL or FT W beach every evening. The pool already has a slide (OKW's won't be ready until the end of the year).

Another plus for VWL is the set up of the room. With the sleep sofa, you'll feel like you have more space in the room - it will feel a little less like a hotel room.

Don't get me wrong - OKW is great, but for a solo trip with an 8 year old, I'd choose VWL. IMHO, there's just more in the area that will appeal to your daughter.

Best wishes -

I agree that VWL might be best for this trip too.

Just to clarify what another poster said about buses at OKW and getting to and from HH. If you are staying at one of the farther out areas like South Point or Turtle Pond, you can just walk across the bridge and wait for an incoming bus at Peninsular Road to go on to South Point or Turtle Pond. Frankly, we have never thought the walk that bad, and if you are staying at the Miller's Road area, walking is definitely easy.

Just got off the phone with MS VWL it is due to the majority vote here:)

Thank you all so very much. Your advice was helpful and appreciated. OKW I will deffinately have to visit , hopefully in the near future.
