I need to take DD to check out 2 colleges in the Boston Area - Boston University and Northeastern.

Money is tight because of all the travel to different colleges. I am not familiar with the Boston area at all. We would need to use Mass Transit to get around. We would drive and then I would like to park the car.

Marriott Hotels if you can recommend hotels along with area - I have some points left. It would be for 3 nights.

Also, I know that most people wouldn't recommend non-safe areas, but only safe areas please.

Thanks in Advance....

Hi Tinker'n'Fun! I have two recommendations - both in Quincy.

Best Western Adams Inn is right on the Neponset River nearby to the North Quincy train stop on the red line. The distance from the city center is 2.75 miles.

Also, Boston Marriott Quincy is in an office park and nearby to the highway and the Quincy Adams train stop on the red line. This is the hotel we use for corporate guests and I can see it from my window where I am sitting right now. Definitely a safe area and convenient to the city.

Enjoy your trip to Boston!

Another vote for Newton Marriott, which is only around $120 a night. It is on the same road as Boston University, just a few miles away. There are plenty of parking garages near both schools. Good Luck!

There's a Marriot Courtyard on McClellan Highway in East Boston (concidered Logan Airport - literally 5 mins from airport and 10 mins to downtown). Cost is about 110.00 a night for a weekend. The Newton location would be more convenient to the colleges you'll be visiting though. Hope you enjoy your visit!

I just reread your message...The East Boston location is convenient to the "T" and the parking is free at the hotel. You could drive to the train station closest to the hotel (Orient Heights station) which is $5 a day.

We lived in Boston & often our guests would stay in Cambridge or Charlestown.

If you stay in Cambridge you can take the "T" into Boston & if you stay in Charleston you can take the Charleston Ferry to the Aquarium ( we lived right next door).

Thanks for the suggestions, checking them now, please keep up the suggestions.

I think the Peabody Marriott is a little less expensive than the Newton Marriott; though it is also a little less convenient.

Another option is the Residence Inn in Woburn... it's right next to Anderson Regional Transportation Center, so you can travel into Boston via rail instead of trying to drive.
