I am thinking of taking a last minute trip with just my two boys, ages 5 and 3, in a couple of weeks. Airfare from Denver is only $113 RT and DVC has rooms available anywhere but BCV. Home resort is VWL but considering OKW or SSR for something different. Anybody have any feedback on those resorts alone with two kids? Also am I crazy to go alone with just the boys!

I traveled alone with my 2 boys for years. My husband doesn't like Disney or traveling very much, so we have always gone alone mostly. We joined the DVC when it was only OKW, so I am comfortable with it, but I think it might be easier with children the ages of your sons to be in a more compact resort.

That sounds like a great rate! I wouldn't pass it up. I don't think you are crazy at all. I took my son at age 13 months from CA to WDW alone! No problem at all for us and we had a blast. SSR is very close to DD so that might give you some evening fun depending on their schedules and how long you stay in the parks. OWK rooms are a bit larger. Are you looking to get a studio or 1BD? THe studios at OWK have 2 queens usually and that might be easier for you. OKW's new slide/pool area looks great for kids. SSR looks just OK to me.

I would take it easy, come back to the room for naps, sleep in until they way vs. setting an alarm and just have a great time. Maybe try some things you have never done before.

Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

I was excited to get a $220 fare in May....how did you find THAT fare?
I'm from Colorado too, and usually fly into Tampa cause of the fare difference (and good friends who live there :goodvibes ).

I think that your kids will love it anywhere...so stay at the resort you like the best! They would probably enjoy the boat rides to Epcot and MGM from BWV, but then OKW wouldn't eat up very many points and is just as much fun!

Have a great time and let me know where you found that cheap airfare!!!!

I would go with the BWV or WLV just for the location. Of course, I try to aviod Disney buses as much as possible.

My yahoo home page tracks fares to certain cities, with Orlando being one. I am also set up on Travelocity for their fare watcher alerts. These tickets are on continental so we have to stop in Houston but that is fine with me. Went we went in December we flew Delta thru SLC for $129 each. I tend to not go if I can't get tickets under $200.

I think we are going to stay at OKW just to save the points. Thanks for all your input!

I used to travel alone with my two DD's although they were teens at the time.

I would recommend either VWL or BWV for you. The access to the Magic Kingdom would be desirable with the boys, and the same with BWV being so close to Epcot and MGM.

I love OKW but find it a bit more isolated. Will be trying SSR in June for the first time, so no opinion to offer on that one yet. Good luck!! ::MickeyMo

Mine are 5 and 3 also and we have traveled to WDW before alone. (they just both had birthdays - so our trips have been 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 so far) My biggest challange is getting tired myself, so I learned to take it easy and try to do less and we have the BEST times. (we were at MK on President's day this past year and it was a ZOO but we had a wonderful time - my 5 year old loves the TTA and the 3 year old got a nap while he and I enjoyed the sites as we rode through Tomorrowland many times...gotta love a little rest time for you all!)

I think OKW would be fantastic. Heck - I think everywhere is fantastic! Take as little as you think you can get by with. The less you are hauling, the easier live will be.

Have a blast!!!

Just wanted to let you know I am making a June trip solo with two of my kids! I happen to be staying at POR (kids helped me pick it out online!) so you are not alone! My older child likes the bus service from there and I like the moderates pools for my kids based on size. Good luck to you (and me!!) :cool1:

I am glad to hear that other people have done this and made it work. One of my biggest concerns is my five year old is very tall for his age and is able to ride most everything. His favorite ride is space mountain which my 3 year old is to small for. Would they let me walk him to the ride and wait for him to get off?

That situation has not come up for me since my two are basically the same size (my 3 year old is a whopper - tall and thick chested compared to his thin and tall older brother) so we can ride the same rides.

What you are asking about sounds just like a baby swap scenero to me and I am sure they would allow you to do that! I would ask before waiting in a long line of course lol but it makes natural sense for a ride that loads and unloads in close proximity. Maybe someone else here has done just that and can tell you for sure.

I just travelled in Feb. alone with my 3 sons! They are 12, 9, and 4. We had a blast! We stayed at the WL and that would be my choice for you too. I liked having everything "inside" one hotel and not having to go outside for a snack, etc. We weren't able to get a DVC studio, so I had to stay in a lodge room and I was glad to be inside a hotel and not walking between condo type units as the only adult. Ordinarily, I'd pick SSR, but in this situation, a self contained hotel like VWL or BWV would be my choice.

To be honest I would stay on cash at All Stars or POP Century my 3 kids love it there we stay there atleast one weekend every trip down.

I am so glad to hear this! I have been wanting to take my girls 4&5 on a ladies trip this summer. HH was booked so now I thought about Myrtle Beach, althouh we really want to go to Disney. But I have not been able to find airfare for less than $250. But, I am glad to know that there are other mothers out there hanging out with their little ones and handling it. Have fun!

I love the pool at SSR for young children....you cant beat the zero entry.

this Mom will be staying w/her boy (who turns 13) at Pop, WL & BCV this August

I will be spending three days at OKW with my boys. We have family arriving after that. We are going to go to the water parks and have a day where they pick all the rides. That way when my mom gets there and she doesn't want to do Splash Mountain 10 times in a row it will be ok. I think Disney World is the only out-of-town place I feel comfortable taking the boys to by my self.
