Where would you rather stay...OKW or SS?

We are new DVC members and have a current reservation at Kidani Village, September 27th - October 4th, Savanah View Studio. My husband decided today that he wants to be in a one bedroom instead of a studio. I told him that we committed our remaining 2009 points to our 2010 vacation...so we have nothing left we could use. Turns out his solution was to have me buy 100 more points this morning. :cool1:
Now we have 204 that we can use for this trip so the question is where would you rather stay Old Key West or Saratoga Springs? DH says he doesn't care, he wanted the extra space and a whirlpool in the room. Our 23 year old DD will be staying with us on this trip, she doesn't care where she stays...she is just interested in internet access...gotta stay connected you know ;)

Any suggestions/opinions/advice you could give including building locations we should be asking for would be helpful.

Thanks!:flower3:

We own at both OKW and SSR and enjoy both resorts, but my favorite is OKW, it is bigger than all the other DC resorts. It has a full-size refrigerator with an ice maker, full-size washer and dryer--not stack units, and a huge balcony that you can really enjoy. It will also take less points.

OKW 1 bedrooms are hooooge!!!:rotfl:

We really love SSR and often stay in the 1 bedrooms there, but I would give OKW a try just for the space.

OKW is what convinced my DH that he wanted DVC, but he loves the SSR grounds to walk/run. OKW rooms have so much space. The 2 bdrm is larger than my parent's house.

However with an 23 yr old daughter, you might want to stay at SSR. My DDs (21/25) love walking to DTD.

Which resort, OKW or SS, has the best pool for kids ages 7 to 10? Not to hijack your thread, but we are also trying to decide between the two resorts, and we have stayed at neither!

When I am in the room, I love OKW more. The rooms are larger and I love sitting on the balcony.

When I am walking the grounds, I love SSR more. It is so peaceful. I also like to walk to Downtown Disney or eat at a different resort. It is easy to get to any resort if you are at SSR.

You can't go wrong at either.

Thanks everyone for the great replies...I booked Old Key West. This will be our first DVC stay, so I am very excited. I love the idea of having more room than a typical hotel room, and I also like having a kitchen...not that I am planning on cooking, heck I am on vacation! But it is nice to have the option if I want to. I requested to be close to the Hospitality house, so we shall see where we get assigned! 47 more days to go!

That's a great way to explain it:thumbsup2 That is how we feel also. OKW rooms are big and beautiful, but we really love the atmosphere at SSR. Because of that, we have only stayed at OKW once and only in a studio. I wish on an earlier trip we had tried the OKW 1 bedrooms because now we cant pry ourselves away from SSR!

As far as the pools, SSR has zero entry and splaygrounds and waterfalls and a pretty neat slide. The slide at OKW is pretty good also so you really cant go wrong.

Our home resort is OKW and we love it there!! You'll be very happy with the amount of space in your unit. One little piece of info tho....I noticed you're taking your adult daughter. Did you book a 1 bedroom unit--where your DD will be sleeping in the living room? Just so you know,in buildings 1 through 29, you have to go through a small part of the master bedroom to get to the bathroom. There is only that one entrance to the bath. Buildings 30 and higher remedied this problem by making a second bathroom entry through the utility room--so if DD needed to use that room while you were asleep, she could get there without coming into your bedroom. That second entry is REALLY a wonderful addition esp when someone is in the LR! You mentioned that you requested being near the Hospitality House--which means you'd probably be in one of the lower numbered buildings with one bathroom entry. (there are 2 newer bldgs close to the HH--bldgs 65 and 66, I believe--that were built with the second entry) I don't know if something like this would be a problem for you--but forewarned is forearmed. If you think the second entrance would be useful in your situation, you should request bldgs 30 or higher. . (we especially like bldgs 45 and 46--wonderful, peaceful view of Trumbo canal and all the boats). If you want the second entry AND want to be near the HH, then request one of the bldgs in the 60's--although, as they'll tell you, there are no guarantees. Hope this makes some sense. Have a wonderful time.
