Where would you like to see a DVC resort next?

I would love a mountain getaway. We've gone to the Smokies twice (got back last week) and the Rockies once. I would love something in those areas. Something with the great outdoors. Makes me happy and tires my 4 boys out!:goodvibes

Caribbean, DC, the Smokies, Florida Gulf Coast.

That's kind of funny you say that, because if I were to pick a spot in time that would signal DVC's demise, the beginning of the end, it would be SSR.

I would say it was about the time Jim Lewis took over. :sad2:

I have not read this entire thread...but I vote for a Gulf Coast resort. :cool1:

We are too young and recently joined to be embittered. We'd like to see the Poly, although the caribbean and mountain suggestions also sound great.

"DVC's demise".... Lol, come on.

You haven't been a member for 13+ years like some of us. Give it time.

Been a member 10 years and do not understand the demise of DVC talk. It is just as good to me today as when I bought 10 years ago. I also see SSR as a great asset to DVC.

I also think SSR is a great resort. I just don't think Jim Lewis is a great asset to DVC.

Maine, Vermont or New Hampshire. We just got back from New England and toured the guest houses at Trapp Family Lodge and we are seriously considering buying a July week there. If DVC built in New England we would buy!

If the demise of DVC means I get to happily stay at the contemporary, grand californian, and hawaii using my already-purchased points, I hope DVC keeps right on dying :lmao:

Off site, I'd like to see one in the Wisconsin Dells with an awesome indoor waterpark, because it's not far from us and it's a great family vacation destination. On site, I'd like to see one at the Grand Floridian because I love it there.:wizard:

It's 103 in Virginia right now, with a heat index of 112. I'm afraid of how hot it's going to be in WDW when we're there next week. :sunny:

I'm thinking I'd really love to a see a Disney North Pole or possibly Antartica Villas. :rotfl2: :cold:

This is a really interesting thread. Having been a member for more than 10yrs now and still a die hard Disney snob;), I can see both sides of the coin here. Do I think DVC is in its demise?? no...but I do see and hear from insiders as well as members that Jim Lewis has done nothing to enhance DVC except push financial growth at all costs....Now to some, that is great! But to others, like me...there is a negative impact to focusing solely on making a buck. I do know that is the nature of business, however while we know Walt Disney wanted to make money, this was never his purpose with Disney.

As far as resorts go, we like DSSR. We do feel they dropped the ball in many areas with it, but there are pros and cons to all the resorts. For example, and these are just my opinions of course;), I would like another dining option at DSSR. It is big enough to support it. I think that Kidani needs its own food court or counter service. I would like to see drink stations more conveniently located for members since we usually buy the refillable mugs. I think that there should be welcome events at more resorts, especially places like Vero and Hilton Head....Welcome Home Wednesdays does not help people offsite. And everyone has their preferences. I do think expanding to give members more options is great and it doesnt, to me, make it less special. I do think that they should focus on expanding current resorts. I would love to see the Fort Wilderness or Poly idea come into fruition....awesome. I also think that a resort like Port Orleans could turn DVC with its fantastic themeing....nothing wrong with a moderate resort offering upscale villas.

I certainly hope that DVC listens to its members when we say that we want better, not just more. I dont think members are entitled to more or less than those who are not members. I do however feel that we should be respected and appreciated more that they let on. :goodvibes

They were listening until suddenly those listening were no longer a part of Member Satisfaction team and were relocated to new jobs.

Wonder whose idea that was.

I think that used to be the case. But in recent years, not so much. Just sell, sell, sell what's newer and more expensive. And even if we, the longer owning DVC members, decide to sell our points, someone will buy them and DVC still gets the member fees.

So true Deb!

Went to the Aulani event tonight at the Contemporary...thats a whole other ball of mess! No wonder Jim lewis doesnt attend these events, he doesnt care for our feedback. :confused3

I said it before and will again. The cape would be perfect in my eyes. I could finally get DH to buy into dvc. He would do it without hesitation. It might take awhile to get it through those cape zoning laws though. No big high rises there. I think it would have to be only two floors though. So much to do there not just the beach and well within driving distance to Boston and all it has to offer.

I don't care much for the Cape..
Putting my personal preferences aside, the Cape & Islands seem far too seasonal for a DVC resort. I mean.. Who is going to go when it's below zero and we are having a blizzard?

I would not be surprised to see DVC do something with the Poly sort of tie it in with Alunai for Midwester's and East Coasters. We have priced flights to Alunai and they are extreme with 12 hour flights and long layover at LAX (From Indianapolis).
Few pages back there was a post bout Disney buying the inventory that is out there in the resell market IF that was to happen they could recoup there investment back and stop what was for awhile a free fall of the market. That being said I never intended my SSR buy in too be anything other then vacation time with my family so not really concerned about the resell market.
If something devolopes at Poly or GF we would be interested in purchasing there. Shawnpirate:
