Where would you like to see a DVC resort next?

First choice - someplace like Lake Tahoe so there would be skiing in winter & lake vacations in summer... Second choice - the Caribbean Third choice - Asia

I agree with Tahoe..

It looks like the next dvc location will be national harbor outside of Washington DC. Disney has been in talks there for over a year and it would be a good hub for some of the adventures by Disney tours based there. I think they will use some of the plans that they had for the Disney Americas park they were going to build in that area, but a lot of those plans went to California adveture park and were modified for that park.

A big city like NY, Washington or London... Paris/EuroDisney (yes, I still call it that), The Southwest, Wyoming/Colorado. Puerto Rico could work for me also :)

I'd like to see one in the upper midwest. Maybe with some sort of connection to the Mall of America. That's the only US destination that draws more people than Disney World in a year. Of course, I would also like to see Disney running the Park at the Mall of America. It used to be a Knotts park, but a couple years ago was bought by Universal, and I don't like what they did to it.

I live too close to the MOA to get advantage out of it unless I housed my guests there. Maybe if they made it a fishing/lake get away location in Northern Minnesota or Wisconsing though, it would be nice for us. There are plenty of nice lake areas there. Minnesota has 15,000 of them alone. They could even have a Magical Express to the MOA if they wanted to, since MOA is right next to the airport.

Disney is building a resort at National Harbor, but AFAIK there has been no talk of DVC other than speculation on these boards.

Selfishly, I say somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic. I think Williamsburg would be a good choice. I'd also like to see them revisit the Disney America idea and I think Williamsburg would be a perfect place, though I don't think it will ever happen, unless Disney buys Busch Gardens and completely guts it.

hey first they need to make sure that both Ca and Hawaii are a success. If they are not - don't expect DVC to go anywhere else.

since Ca is part of DL - this once should be. but Hawaii (especially in this economy) is still iffy.

Nowhere. Stop the madness. Focus on the current members and current resorts.

Just say "NO" to new construction.

When they build these far out locations, it only makes it harder at 7 months out to get something other than your home resort (which you should have booked prior to the 7 months period).

I think a better question would be -

Where else would you BUY points if DVC built there?

IMO, there is a big difference between buying and visiting. Disney makes the big money on the sales, not 7 month visitors, LOL. :teeth:

Absolutely! That's why I don't think there will be a DVC component to the National Harbor project.

As someone from Michigan I would love to see a DVC site on Machinac Island. Many people might not have heard of it but it is wonderful. There are no cars, only horses and bikes. I would definitely buy if they were at Mackinac...

I am also voting for DVC Poly!! And also something within an easy drive of the northeast. I'd love to be able to do long weekends or a vacation without the cost and hassle of flying.

My two favorites have already been mentioned. I love Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. My second choice would be the Yellowstone/Grand Tetons area. But definitely not somewhere tropical-I think DVC has too many places that are very HOT in the summer.

True, and that's why Hawaii is such a big if. We see LOTS of people on the boards here talk about "visiting" Hawaii, but we see far fewer talking about actually buying.

For each site Disney builds away from parks, they are going to have to appeal to the folks closer to that locale. Just like Hawaii is going to be the biggest draw for west coasters and the Asian countries, I think National harbor will draw many east coasters. It's this big vast "center of the country" that is missing out on an easy, inexpensive to travel to DVC. I think most of us here in "fly over land" would love to have a home resort close enough to drive to once in awhile. I know I would. Sure, I can do exchanges now, but that's difficult at best.

I vote none as well. I think DVC provides enough options for travel outside of the parks with RCI/II, Adventures Collection, and the Concierge collection.

If they are going to build more DVC resorts, I would prefer to see another one at DL and another at WDW with a Future of the Past theme (much like the old Horizons ride at EPCOT).

Otherwise, I would prefer DVC wait a bit to allow their current resorts to sell out and allow our value to go up by not competing with us. If they didn't buy any more resorts and wanted to still sell, there are lots of SSR (and other resort) contracts they could acquire at a bargain price and sell for a premium.

I think Disney resorts work best AT Disney destinations. HHI and VB certainly have not been hugely successful, and it remains to be seen whether Hawaii (VERY competitive market) or National Harbor work out well.

For non-Disney locations, I'd rather see full membership in RCI or II instead of only a handful of resort choices that you can't really book anyway. If DVC offered REAL non-Disney choices, I think enough members would exchange out to make it attractive to one of the exchanges.

And it's been different with RCI than it was with II. With II, you'd occasionally see threads where someone really had a great time on an exchange. I haven't seen any of those with RCI and I think it's because DVC the choices are so limited and DVC doesn't trade very well compared to other timeshare systems.

Not very realistic given the seasonal nature of the island.

Ludington would be a nice area on Lake Michigan.
