Can anyone tell me where preferred and partial sites will be evacuated to if there is a hurrican?? Just wondering

In severe thunderstorms, tent campers have sometimes been given a cabin for a night or two.

In the case of a hurricane, when the entire campground is evacuated, folks are given a chance to check out early and leave without penalty or given a room at a moderate resort.

Folks in the cabins are usually given a deluxe or DVC accommodation.

One time at bandcamp.....................

Just kidding. We were given a room at WL for no extra fee when a storm was approaching. 3 nights for a full hookup fee lol. I could pay to stay at WL, but then I would be short on other stuff. I just don't see a reason to EVER stay in a hotel again lol.

what about us campers that travel with pets...would they kick us to the curb??:scared1:

Nope, probably just require that they be housed at one of the kennels. They have kennels at the TTC, at Epcot, at the Studios, and at Animal Kingdom.

The plan, as it was described to me just before Hurricane Wilma two years ago, was that the kennel at FW would be evacuated to one of the other kennels on property. Priority is given as far as available space at the kennels to guests whose pets are already registered. There is a vet down the road who has a kennel facility and has an agreement with Disney to house any overflow up to his capacity. After that, I don't know.

I trust Disney implicitly, but we "cut and run" a few years ago in Aug. when a hurricane was approaching because even though I *knew* we humans would be going to one of the moderates, my dog (who was terrified of storms) would be at one of the kennels, and no one in authority would guarantee how long the animals would be left alone/when help would be able to get in to feed and care for them. I understand that humans have first priority, and I would gladly have stayed at the kennels myself and helped take care of all the pets, but I just couldn't leave my dog scared and possibly alone in the kennel. Another possibility we looked into was checking out and moving over to a Universal hotel, since we have stayed at the Hard Rock several times with the same dog. FW's manager at the time gave *excellent* customer service, though, and is yet another example of why we return year after year, hurricanes or no!
